Re: Technical Question on Generations 5.2

As you have a Gedcom I would create a Project from that Gedcom as a Start point. This covers the process: how_to:import_generations|> Import from Generations Family Tree Personally I would review your Imported Gedcom to decide if you want to take the opportunity get all your sources in better shape ...

Re: Exporting Source Media to GedStar Pro

Probably the first thing I would do is to create a new Project from your existing one, and that should convert all those blobs to media records.

Re: (sort of) structure of LUA Program

If you want to understand Lua fully you might want to read the "Programming In Lua" book. Local declarations are cleaned up at the end of the program block they are declared in, this is the same for Local Functions. Variables declared or used for the first time without local are global, bu...

Re: Couple in between siblings.. help

Another option is to turn on full proxy boxes even if they are close so you see the siblings in the right order and then have a second box for the joined family. All relatives only make sense when you are following all lines up for all ancestors. As if you have the female line as well it's more obvi...

Re: Who was living at 22 Castle Street, London around 1907?

Thanks both, I had the residents on both Census records as I had already done as Mike suggested and used FMP to check the addresses, it was the time in between I was trying to fill, hence trying to find who was there when the children where born.

Who was living at 22 Castle Street, London around 1907?

I have a Birth Certificate giving an address of 22 Castle Street registered in St Giles, London in 1907. I can see the 1905 and 1909 London Electoral Rolls on Ancestry but can't find a way to locate Castle Street, does any one have any ideas or know what obvious solution I have missed? I have found ...

Re: Record Window - Timeline of family events affected by adding Witness event

It's working as designed, a Witness link is a "data record" link so will be shown rather than the implied event from another individual. If you want a better display you could customise the Role Advanced Settings to provide a clearer implementation, perhaps including the relationship. So m...

Re: Custom Query Linking Places to Individuals

I have done a simple Fact query, so if a Castle has lots of facts against it you will get them all in the list.

It will prompt for a Root (your daughter) and the list you want to use. It assumes the list will contain place records.

Re: Recording DNA matches in Family Historian

I have added the Family Number and the record ID's to my default diagram text scheme this means I can display a how related diagram from "me" to the link DNA person (hiding siblings and spouses) and then fill in the form as I can see all the numbers on the diageam

Re: Named list note

Don't forget any sort of records can be added to a Named list so why not create a Note record as a "place holder" with your "discussion" in the Named List note and add it to the top. In my To at a Place List I add the Repository record to the list and add my general thoughts to t...

Re: FH vs others

As Mike says there are no collaborative programs for Genealogy which work in Windows, that I have come across. If you are each intending to work on your own Branches then you could simply each have your own Projects and merge them in to a Master project periodically. >In order to work with genealogi...

Re: restoring default version

You can go to the customise area each section and hit the installation settings button.

I suspect you probably changed the Focus Window using the Customise link top right and the font size on the Property box in the Options under the Gear wheel top right of the property box.

Re: Expressions in Customize Data Entry?

One place you can customise on the Property Box is the title, which can take expressions, so if it's a small bit of information you can add it up there. The Property box is mainly designed for data entry and as such it only really allows fields which can be edited, with a couple of exceptions, which...

Re: Individual census facts not included in report

Currently the Individual summary report does not include Witnesses, the Individual Narrative report does. For this reason currently many users prefer to have a fact for each person and use the Source to get the related records, but this assumes you are a method 1 recorder. I don't use GedSite, but I...

I always recommend purchasing the download version and keeping safe with your backups a copy of the install program and a document with your licence number. That way you can always reinstall. One thing to remember is to uninstall the program from any older computer you are retiring to keep the insta...

Re: Twins

I only normally add to the first born (if I know it), but no harm in adding it twice, you might want to blank the witness sentence to avoid seeing the fact twice in narrative reports.
