Thank you very much!

I have made a support ticket and explained as good as I can what the possible problem with translation is.

Re: sentences: my lack of Englisch?

If I take the language variant code from Fact Type, Edit Role and insert it the Property Box Facts tab Sentence box, it seems to work fine in the narrative: narrative after correction.jpg And if I edit the Property Box Facts tab Sentence box, then that is specific template used in the Individual nar...

Re: sentences: my lack of Englisch?

Due to a new import to run plugin v 0.7 there is an other sentence that is not translated, I will show you. A few days ago I translated some sentences myself as a exercise. Could FH remembered that? Ind Narrative.jpg Klaas in the role of witness isn't translated but his wife Elisabeth in the same ro...

Re: sentences: my lack of Englisch?

With your help I managed to change sentences (templates) were needed. With testing I was confronted with a problem I don't understand and can't find how to solve it. In the Individual Narrative report, in Dutch, the role of the witness is good translated as "Zij was getuige bij de doop van..." NL Sc...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.

Try the attached Match Name with Components plugin Version 0.6 Date 21 Jun 2022. This version saves the user dialogue settings in the global ProgramData for FH. Thus the settings are the same as the previous use of the plugin for every Project. It also checks the surname prefix case rather differen...

Re: sentences: my lack of Englisch?

"Did the Narrative Report Fact Sentence Templates article help?" In detail, yes . The bigger picture less (I do realize it wil take time to get used to it, this wasn't also my strongest point with TMG). See the next two sentences, everything in red is not clear to me: Sentence Templates can be found...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.

If you use GIVN, SPFX and SURN every software program can easily construct the NAME (except FH) by doing that you can have the advantage of both: more flexibility with entering data and you follow the Gedcom standard. So Name stays mandatory but is build from the separate fields. No blanc fields, se...

What is in a name...
van Wijk, van Gogh, van der Meer are all surnames but surnames including the prefix. Search, sort, index is done only at Wijk, Gogh or Meer.

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.

Indeed I'm very pleased! I'm trying to fully understand this conversation and have the feeling that there is confusing between facts, wishes, the Gedcom standard and software. In my opinion The Gedcom standard is there, maybe not ideal and you don't have to like it. In the standard it's allowed to u...

Re: sentences: my lack of Englisch?

Thanks again Mike! When I opened Fact types , Birth or baptism I saw the codes and assumed they were already customized or seems it that way after TMG import? So I followed your steps and the result was good. I would expect to see in a report from the principal that the witness is mentioned, but he ...

sentences: my lack of Englisch?

I'm trying to understand how the sentences work in FH. I used for this example the FH sample project and run the Individual Narrative Report of Peter Michael Munro (1920-1990) He witnessed the marriage of Anthony Edward Munro and Julia Amanda Fish He was a W itness at B irth of Anthony Munro Hodges ...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.

I did mention a custom property box tab that would improve the data entry of the various name parts. Is that something that would be of interest? -- if so, we can talk you though creating it. I have now the Given, Prefix and Surname field in the property box. I can put name parts in the fields i wa...

@Helen and David, Thank for your reaction. You don't have to apologize there is nothing wrong with your valuable input. The discussion you are having is much more important then why I want to change from program. Let's be honest CP would be crazy to rewrite their software for one foreign user. On th...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.

Before you jump to conclusions, I started this topic (I'm the OP) with: I'm still a TMG user but looking for a new program. Suggestion like "The OP wants to continue working as close to the way they were accustomed to work as possible" or "they want FH to be like TMG" are not true! I'm looking for s...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX)

I've rewritten the Plugin to perform two tasks simultaneously. Try the attached Match Name with Components Version 0.3 Date 17 Jun 2022. I did, nice work! I did a new import from TMF and run the plugin, as far i have seen they are all correct! Also when giving in Given name, prefix and surname the ...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX)

Breaking names in pieces introduce mistakes. A few examples I found after using your plugin: -Name: Ameijden van Duijm becomes given blanc, prefix Ameijden, surname van Duijm instead of: surname Ameijden van Duijm -Name: van der Most van Spijk, Jacoba becomes given Jacoba, prefix van, surname der M...

Just to clarify, none of the people who have been helping you work for Calico Pie. They are "just" users like yourself.
This site is separate to Calico Pie and not run or funded by them.
Thank you, I wasn't aware of that. The more my appreciation for this community!

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX)

I made a few test imports this morning and found: 1. Gedcom made with TMG including Prefix and Surname tags, import in FH: the Prefix and Surname will show in the property box. 2. Import directly from TMG: Prefix and Surname don't show. These tags are in the FH Gedcom not present. So FH don't read/i...
