Duplicating a source?
Is it possible to duplicate a source, tweak it slightly, and then save it as a new source?

Re: Multiple authors for sources?
I don't think that is correct. I am using an Advanced Source Template ("Book: Basic Format"; others are similar). The Author field is naturally a Name field (not Text), where the Bibliography layout uses {Author:REVERSE}. Thus, books are sorted by last name in the Bibliography, but Given name Last n...

Re: Multiple authors for sources?
If I do that, the Source Template will treat it as one name, with "Hewins" as the last name. This is a problem in footnotes then since they are formatted First Name Last Name.

Re: Multiple Facts/Events to the same thing
It sounds like you may have conflicting strategies at work. Of course, but that is an issue that genealogical software has generally. It both records data in the database, but also presents that data in polished reports where a conclusion has been reached. I guess in the end, I will continuing coll...

Re: Multiple authors for sources?
It is possible to add more than one author when entering a source (usually books and journal articles)? In the case of a book/article with multiple authors, the first one listed is the ONLY one that goes into the Author field in a library catalogue. The rest are considered as Added Entries and have...

Re: Multiple Facts/Events to the same thing
My thanks to everyone for their thoughts on this. I admit that I am recalcitrant to have "one fact only." This will almost never document accurately every source as most sources will have problems of some sort. I don't like, for example, citing a source for a birth event when only the date, but not ...

Re: Are old-style numerals supported as a font configuration option?
Open the copied typeface within FontForge to see the full collection of glyphs which are included within the typeface; Note the locations of both the standard or "lining" numerals (almost always at the top of the file) and the corresponding "old-style" numerals; Copy the 0-9 old-style glyphs and pa...

Multiple Facts/Events to the same thing
I am a new FH7 user moving over from Family Tree Maker 2019. Forgive me for this (probably) basic question, but how are users handling data entry from multiple sources referring to the same event, but with different (or only partial) data given? For example, I have an ancestor with at least 5 differ...

Re: Are old-style numerals supported as a font configuration option?
As someone who trained as a graphic designer and who still does book-layout from time to time, Old-style numerals, and OpenType generally are near and dear to my heart. However, in the case of FH, this is irrelevant. FH is a database where what is entered, and not how it looks, is paramount. (I have...

Re: Family name first (Chinese, Hungarian, etc.)
Thank you!
On the plus side, at least I can now sort by family name, and (usually) display the full name as entered. This is already massive progress compared to other software.

Re: Family name first (Chinese, Hungarian, etc.)
Just to answer my own question in case anyone anyone else has a similar issue: All I had to do was type the name in the order I want and then use // for the family name; it all sorts properly! So /Mao/ Zedong will sort under Mao . It even works with Chinese characters, e.g., /毛/ 泽东 (FH7 will insert ...

Family name first (Chinese, Hungarian, etc.)
Hello! I am new to FH7. I am giving it a test run at the moment. One question: is it possible to display individuals on an ad hoc basis to have their Family Name appear before their Given Name in reports, charts, etc.? I have several Chinese individuals, as well as a couple of Hungarians. In those l...
