Re: ZoomPast

Thank you Mike, everything worked brilliantly and so far I have not come across any problems or obvious issues. Although it would be a bonus if it uploaded photos I am ok with going through and entering them. Luckily the relatives who I have done this for are not particularly interested in copies of...

Re: ZoomPast

I am coming to this thread very late as I have just found ZoomPast and have been trawling for reviews. After downloading it for my brother who is interested in our whole tree I am very impressed with it. Family members are also liking being able to see the whole tree. I'm surprised it has not been a...

Re: Common Ancestor

Thank you Bill. Just when I think I know what is available something else pops its head up and I can't find the answer. But I realise that what I must do is to click on every link and see what it brings, and not expect the one link to give me all the answers, which is what I have been doing. Given t...

A further question related to the chart it has been produced - I've checked the help file and tools and can't find an answer.

Re: Common Ancestor

Thank you once again Mike.

Just checked it out and it's excellent, especially when going to the graphics part of it.

I have so much to learn about what this programme can do.

Common Ancestor

Is there a facility in Family Historian to enter the names of 2 people and see how they are related? Thanks.

That works well, it also allows me to format the picture as per placement and text wrap. Thank you.

Printing and Photos

Could someone tell me where I am going wrong. As a trial I am doing a single person narrative book for my grandfather. On his Focus screen I have 4 photos of him. With his facts I have photos against 5 facts - these photos are also the same as the ones on his focus screen. When I do the narrative bo...

Adding Photos So they show in Ancestor Narrative Report

I have some photos that I have saved to Media but not linked to any fact. They do not show in the Ancestor Narrative Report. Is it necessary to set up a Fact for every photo I want to appear in my reports?

Thank you - June

Change Text Font in Lists

Apologies I am back asking another 'simple' question. Despite reading, checking 'help', using what looks like the best option I am still stuck. The font in the Lists is very small and I would love to change it to a larger font. I have managed to changed font sizes on the focus screen and the box wit...

Re: Choosing a person from list of people and have them show as focus person.

Thank you Mike. I'm afraid sometimes I have sometimes found it hard to navigate the Help guide. It's headings (to me) have not really been self explanatory. That being said - I am persevering and reading what I think is closest. Also just checking out others at random that I think will come in handy...

Choosing a person from list of people and have them show as focus person.

I have brought up a list of all the people in my tree and would like to bring a certain person up as the focus person so that I can work on their file. Unsure how to do this. Double clicking does bring the data box up but I want them to appear as the focus person as well so I can work on that family...

Re: Importing from Legacy

Apologies for the delay in responding. I have checked through the area you mention and cannot find anyone with 3 blue dots under the 'More' column. The only thing under there are little yellow folders which appears whenever there is anything in the 'notes' section of the fact. I've also scanned thro...

How do I save photos and where are they stored?

When I was on Legacy and found a picture or document on the web or on any site and I wanted to keep it I would either click or do a screen shot and then save said item to my E:\Pictures\Legacy Photos file. At an appropriate time I would then copy that across to the relevant file in my Legacy file an...

Re: Primary Image on Focus Page

Lorna thank you so much. So simple once you pointed out the little arrow and the numbers. I was able to check that but have further media issues. I will go and do more reading before I post another query. It's certainly a big learning curve after the programme I previously used. Although much prefer...

Re: Primary Image on Focus Page

I'm afraid some of the instructions in this thread seem to need a level of understanding that I do not have. I have printed out booklets of information to read and have them with me and find most things are fairly easy to follow - albeit sometimes with a little help from the forum. But even armed wi...

Re: Adding media to Fact

Jane thank you - so simple!

davidf thank you for the further information. Once I was able to follow Jane's instructions and see how easy it was and what happened where, reading your further instructions then made much more sense to me. Of course further full understanding needed.

Thank you both.

Adding media to Fact

I have read the previous postings on entering media but have to apologise that I do not understand and it is not working for me. I have saved my media to my desktop and then managed to put it in the media folder for the appropriate person, so all looks well as far as that goes. Problem - I have save...

Re: Importing from Legacy

I went back to the same person Mark Portlock and checked his information. It now reads: He was born in June 1831 ..................., - I did not have his exact date so checked his wife's which now reads: She was born on 10 May 1831. I checked other events to check the wording and I have: He married...

Re: Importing from Legacy

Thank you for the information which was clear and easy to follow. All went well. I followed your instructions from the 'Change Any Fact Plug', went through all the census' one after the other and all is well. Everything reads 'he or she appeared in the .... Census'. I appreciate your help over this ...
