Re: Relationships
Many thanks, BillH, that's great! If you're interested in the relationship to a particular individual who may not be the root (I had to change my root for a bit, away from myself, because I'm female. I had to change it to a man, either something to do with charting or with queries, can't remember), ...

Re: Working with Places
When working with places, in the Place List dialogue box, top right is an Edit... button, which is slightly misleading, as it does not take you to where you can Edit the place, but simply opens the View/Edit Place Details dialogue box, where you have to click another Edit... button, to open the Edi...

Query: 'If data in a set/array/list' function [FH v7]
Hi, I've got a query which lists the year of a date of a fact. I want to have a column saying if that year is a census year or not. Is there a way of doing an "in array/list" function, please, something like =TextIf(InArray(%FACT.DATE.YEAR%, 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, 1911, 1921, 1936...

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column
Interesting! Why do you choose to use only explicit Birth Dates instead of Estimated, but do use Estimated Death Dates? Have you considered the following more compact function instead of the nested TextIf(...) function: CombineText( , %INDI.CENS[year=1841].AGE%, , " find " ) Also, by using DateAt(1...

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column
I've noticed that 1921 is included in the Columns but not in the Rows, I think (if I've got it right) =IsTrue((EstimatedBirthDate(%INDI%,EARLIEST,2) > DateAt(1921,6,19)) or (EstimatedDeathDate(%INDI%,LATEST,2) < DateAt(1921,6,19)) or (%INDI.CENS[year=1921].DATE% = DateAt(1921,6,19)) or (%INDI.FAMS>C...

censuses - query with different values for an output column
Hi, So I've got a query which shows a list of people and what years they have censuses for, for each of the census year, with a 'Y' for each cell they have one. What I'd like to do, is also show which years they shouldn't have a census for - ie before born and after death, if I have that information...

Re: pdf of tree diagram hyperlink not work in browser
Thanks very much Mike, I'll give that a go. From what you've shown I could also probably make the link italic to help it stand out more too. I'd wondered if there was a way to enter alternative text for a link, like in the html anchor tag. or a way of getting it to be treated as one phrase for the l...

pdf of tree diagram hyperlink not work in browser
Hi, I've created a pdf of a family tree diagram in FH 7, with the added hyperlink in each person's 'box' pointing to where their webpage will be in my website. This worked previously tested on my pc with a short url, but for many reasons the url is longer for where the pages will be on the internet....

Hi Helen,
both great ideas

Many thanks

Ages of an entire family at a given date
Hi, so, as we get further back in time, families were often quite large (though not all children lived to grow up). I'm wondering how to do a query to work out what ages, given known or calculated birth dates/years, all the people in a family would be on a particular date, of those who are known to ...

Showing/marking people as tentative
Hi, I've found some information from bayanne.info that possibly solves my conundrum of which Gilbert Hay from Shetland my ggg grandmother Helen Gordon married (from what's in Shetland's records there were two possible Gilberts around her age). But so far I have no proof that these people (Gilbert an...

Hi, I'd like to export the locations with their associated facts I have geocoded in FH so I can import them as a marker set to a map so I can check out locations I visit for nearby relatives' facts.
