Re: Question about "Essentials" template set
To add to the confusion, Ian Macdonald doesn't seem to use the "access date" field in any of his citations, whereas the Strathclyde style guide does include this. Like Teresa who frequents this forum, you may have to come up with your own citation "flavour" that combines elements...

Re: Views on key repository specific source templates
Would the Miscellaneous Unpublished Document/Artifact template from the Essentials collection be suitable for this purpose? Keep in mind that archives often have their own preferred citation for items in their collections - you could ask the North Yorkshire Archives for advice or a copy of their sty...

Re: Expression to select one individual
Yes, but likewise =RecordId(%INDI% = 6) is incorrect, hence my query. I don't access the Knowledge Base as much as I do the in-built FH Help, so it was difficult to determine that I additionally required the =IsTrue() function. Thanks again for your clarification. Hopefully it can be a learning poin...

Re: Expression to select one individual
There are some clues in FHUG KB Understanding Expressions where comparisons using equals must be inside the =IsTrue(...) function. As the error says, the Box Condition must return True/False. But =RecordId() = 6 must be enclosed in the IsTrue(...) function to satisfy FH: =IsTrue( RecordId() = 6 ) T...

Expression to select one individual
I am having a total mind blank at trying to apply a box expression in order to identify/select ONE individual. I want to apply custom box features to this one individual (actually several, with different box features), but I cannot seem to find the correct data reference/function to do so. I have tr...

Re: Citation Footnote, preview display issue.
For issues 1-4, there are numerous forum postings about this. The solution is that you need to apply the correct "top-level text" treatment by adding angle brackets. See these topics: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21287&p=131607#p131607 https://www.fhug.org.uk/...

Re: Showing two individual profiles side by side
If you are using the Focus Window, you can go backwards and forwards by using the arrows to the left of the "Spouses & Children" tab. I think it goes between your most recently viewed/focused individuals. From the help file: You can Go Back to a previous Focus Person, by clicking on th...

Re: Setting box features using data reference for DNA witness role
Thanks, Mike. Keeping them in entry order ensures that one step in the process is kept as easy as possible. If all individuals who have a witness role of MRCA, DNA-Link or DNA-Link2 are added to and remain in the corresponding Named List, I want it to be easy to see the most recently added members o...

Re: Bullet points in notes not showing
Thanks again, Nick. I have replied to my FH Support ticket with the new information. Hopefully Calico Pie can now replicate the issue, but as you say, I doubt they will be able to implement a fix. Do you know if this is something Microsoft would be aware of?

That entirely depends on what you have done to add tasks to a so-named task list. Are you using notes or research notes, perhaps?

Re: Bullet points in notes not showing
Just a thought, but can you reproduce the problem in AS? I may be mistaken, but I think AS uses the same Microsoft rich text control as FH, so that if it happens in AS, it might be a Microsoft problem... I was curious to see if this is the case... and indeed, as soon as I added an emoji to a note t...

Re: Bullet points in notes not showing
After lengthy backwards and forwards correspondence with FH Support, this remains unsolved. Since they could not reproduce the issue, it has been shelved for the moment. I am still having difficulty with bullet points displaying correctly in all note contexts when emojis are present, so if anyone ha...

Re: Setting box features using data reference for DNA witness role
As a quick update to this, I am now experimenting with Caroline O'Neill's approach by keeping individuals with a MRCA, DNA-Link or DNA-Link2 witness role in a Named List based on her suggestions in this post . That will allow the use of =IsInList in diagrams. I'm not a huge user of Named Lists, so c...

Re: Should I just give up using the "EE" Templates
I have yet again a different take on using the EE citation style... I find that it helps me clarify the source that I'm looking at and analyse it by taking the time to work out the citation elements required. Albeit this is a bit moot once I have repeated/similar citations for the same source, but i...

Re: Setting box features using data reference for DNA witness role
Mark, apologies, I should have explained more clearly. I have adapted a fact system originally designed by Bev Smallwood (another member of the FHUG and also the FHZG) where DNA-Link is the person or people in the 'chain' between a DNA match and our most recent common ancestor/s, and DNA-Link2 is th...

Bulk edit media date and/or keyword from source window
I often add multiple images to a source (eg, a multi-page will or estate file) and want to quickly add the same date and keyword/s to these images. Is there a way to do this in bulk, without having to open each media item individually and adding such details? I'm specifically talking from the Media ...

Re: Setting box features using data reference for DNA witness role
Yes, my text scheme is using the expression you suggested of =TextIf( %INDI.~SHAR[1+].ROLE% = "MRCA", "Common Ancestor", ) . The problem is that the looping index [1+] returns each and every instance of an individual's witness roles, so for many people there are several DNA Match...

Re: Setting box features using data reference for DNA witness role
Now you have realised you want a Box Expression for a DNA Match Witness who has the Role "MRCA". The data reference %INDI.~SHAR% refers to the first Fact Witness entry for the person. i.e. In that person's Facts tab, the first entry with a blue arrow icon on the left. If the person was a ...

Sarah, may I suggest you look at the FHUG Knowledge Base Understanding Expressions that gives examples of using both =Exists(...) and =IsTrue(...) functions. Setting box features using data reference for DNA witness role
I have a custom fact type DNA Match which includes the following witness roles: Match2, MRCA, DNA-Link and DNA-Link2. I would like to display some of these on a digram by applying box features, specifically those individuals who have a witness role of MRCA and/or DNA-Link. Using this topic as a guid...

Re: Show Named List membership in Property Box?
Others will be able to answer with regards to named lists and the property box. But I suspect that since functions are not supported in the property box (data references only), the answer will be no, since you would have to use something like the IsInList function. See: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum...

The Date Entry Assistant can be accessed by either hitting Ctrl+Enter on the keyboard when you are in the Date f...
