Re: Is it possible to construct a truly Free-Format template in FH7?
I just came across the free-fromat templates and this discussion. I'm in favor of being able to have them and have voted. I am going to play around with some of the ideas presented here, but wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

Re: Property Box Missing citation list when floating
Thank you. I know about the dots but since I didn't see any I didn't think to adjust the top one. That's all it was.

Property Box Missing citation list when floating
When my property box is docked, I can see the list of sources at the bottom. docked.jpg But when it's floating I get this: Floating.jpg I've looked at settings but am missing something. It used to show the Source record floating or docked. I want it to look like the first picture. Thanks for any help

That was it. And I should have known. I'd been playing with that sentence.

I'm talking about in an individual report and here:
I'm heading out the door shortly, but I made a new fact that was fine. So maybe something else is going on. I'll work on it some more later and get back to you.- 14 Feb 2023 17:30

Citing English Census
It will be quite obvious, I'm a confused American. This is a genealogical question, not a technical one, so I've put it in General Usage. I hope that is OK. I try to mostly stick to Evidence Explained method of citations. In the US citing the jurisdiction/civil division in census records is fairly s...

Re: What software to write a book.
I can't get that to work for a book. Here is the report I'm using: Screenshot 1.jpg Here is the book setup: Screenshot 2.jpg But when the report is produced there are sources after Family of Roy..., Jean Virginia..., Billie...., etc. It puts it at the end of the report. I would love endnotes at the ...

Re: What software to write a book.
Thank you. I'll check into PDF-exchange. And I didn't realize newer versions of Word could edit a PDF. I have Donna Baker's Zotero book and considered it. But I'm very Evidence Explained oriented and getting the citations like I want them seemed like it might be a lot of work. On the other hand, may...

What software to write a book.
I'd like to write a book with end notes, not footnotes. I'd like to be able to edit and move the text around. No matter what software I look at, Word, Scrivener, etc it seems I'll have to manually renumber and reference my thousands of citations. I don't hate the reports in FH7, but I want to easily...

Re: Moving from old Win 10 PC to new Win 11
Thanks everyone. I'll proceed a bit later in the day. Turns out my financial software (older) didn't like Win 11 so I'm deciding on a new one. Unfortunately that has to come first.

Moving from old Win 10 PC to new Win 11
I am moving from an old Win 10 computer to a new Win 11 one. I know to use either BACKUP AND RESTORE FAMILY HISTORIAN SETTINGS VIA WINDOWS or Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings. I know people are running on computers they upgraded to Win 11, but didn't know if anyone did it as a new instal...

Bulk change fact flag
I had previously decided to handle multiple birth dates/places with separate birth facts and flag the less likely ones as Rejected. I have now decided I don't like that. Those Birth facts are the only facts I have flagged rejected. Is there a way to clear them all at once? I looked at the Change Any...

Add Relationship to Root on Web Family Group sheet (for Web, CD or DVD)
In a custom version of the Web Family Group sheet (for Web, CD or DVD) Report, I would like to change the Heading/Family Member line to also show the relationship to root. It's currently %INDI.NAME[1]%. Assuming Mary Doe is the root person I'd like it to be John Doe - father of Mary Doe. I know how ...

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
That didn't work, but..... I decided to try some other plugins. They didn't work either. Turns out 6 months or a year ago I had set this laptop and my desktop up to use directory junctions and sync with Google. Then Google changed their sync program but I never updated this computer. End of story, t...

Backup and Restore Family Historian Plugin
I want to use FH7 on my laptop for a bit. I've upgraded both systems to the latest version of family historian and the latest version of the plug-in. I had no difficulty with backup. But when I restore I get "ERROR: Registry Key data not saved by REG QUERY HKLM/SOFTWARE/WOW6432Node\Calico Pie. ...

The hard drive has plenty of space. I'll check task manager again, but the times that I've looked it hasn't helped. I've also reinstalled to no avail. It will be better for a short time and then slow again. I may try a SSD drive since that seems to have given good results for some folks. They aren't...
