Re: "Open source" for URLs
If you specify a local file path in the File field for a Media object, you can open it directly from the media object. Does that mean that your request is specific to the Publication Info in a Generic Source? If so, you could try linking a (temporary) Repository to the Source, and adding the releva...

Re: "Open source" for URLs
Hm - that shows it could be implemented in other fields too. (My media files are all local, so I didn't know about this feature.)ColeValleyGirl wrote: ↑03 Jun 2023 12:46This already happens if you put a URL in the file field of a Media Record.

Re: "Open source" for URLs
Hi and sorry for the delayed reaction... Unfortunately, none of your suggestions meets my needs. You are right, it is much better to download sources, but often I'm in a hurry and just create a new source with a title and the URL in the "Publication Info" field, and link it to the "Download" note. L...

"Open source" for URLs
Some fields can contain URLs, like "Publication info" of a source or "File" of a media record. My wish is to open a web browser, or a file system browser, from the content of such a field if it contains a http/https URL or a local file specification.

View Record Links in context menu
The major lists have the "View Record Links" item in the "View" menu. However, almost every single time I want to use it, I search this item in the context menu. I believe it belongs there, right above "Properties" (which is also available in the "View" menu).

Consistent menus
Hi, I have been working with FH 7.0.2 for a while and I like it, but there is one aspects that drives me crazy again and again, and that is the inconsistency across menus and operations. My Easter wish is that this be fixed soon. What do I mean by inconsistency? There are two aspects. The first aspe...

Re: FH7 create new source record for an event
Jim and Mike, thank you for your replies. Jim, your workflow works in the "Individual" property box, it probably is the easiest way to add a new source, I'll try that in the future. And Mike, I have no "All" tab in the Records window, can it be that you are also referring to the property box? I used...

FH7 create new source record for an event
I recently started working with FH7 and am missing a functionality which I had used quite frequently in the past. Unfortunately, I cannot turn the time back to see how this worked in FH6, but I'll try it from my memories. When I record an event in an individual's life, I want to record the source fo...

How to best link sources to each other?
Hi! One of my major sources of information is an "Ortsfamilienbuch", a compilation of ca. 1000 families who lived in a place over a time span of ca. 500 years. My database refers to ca. 50 of these records. I started out creating one source record for that book and adding "Where in source" fields to...
