Merging Records

I am doing a major exercise on my rather unusual surname. Due to research I have sometimes duplicated records. Normally they merge without problem but, possibly if children have been added to both records, the merge results in two family’s being shown in focus page .. as if there were two marriages....

Individual Records List

This is probably a very silly question but why are certain individuals not in the main Individual records List, but mostly above the alphabetical main list, or occasionally below it?
I find this list very useful when moving directly to other families.
TIA

Re: Y-DNA test

Hi Mike

Yes I did try that route some years ago but unfortunately the Paddington records did not go back as far as 1878. It may be worth trying again now though.

Than you

Y-DNA test

I have a major brick wall, in that my surname is probably not strictly correct going back to 1878. My grandfather, who died before I was born, was born in Paddington Workhouse in 1878. I have the Birth Certificate which shows only the mother (with my surname), showing her as a housemaid. I know that...

Re: Family Relationships

So sorry Mike. I didn’t read your reply closely enough. I index by name currently but I’m thinking of doing it on a generation basis. That way all the relationships such as second cousins, twice removed, for example, will be in the same area. Thank you btw, I did print out that list as you suggested...

Family Relationships

Like many FH users I expect I tend to print out lots of information before inputting to FH. I am trying to organise my folders, specifically for indirect relatives, cousins and the like. I don't like paper chaos! Can I produce a list of relationships from FH so that I can label my folder indexes, i....

Re: Producing a list of each generation

Thank you all.
The query produces the perfect answer for me.
Excuse me for being so dense.

Producing a list of each generation

Is it possible for FH to produce a list of each generation?
For instance a list of the Great Great Great Grandparents, which should be of course 32 names?
Or the 64 4 x Greats?
Many thanks

Re: Use a single census entry for whole family

Many thanks to all responders. Much appreciated and I have printed off your solutions. However in this particular instance I do think that Legacy has a much simpler option in that you enter all the census details, the whole page, for one family member, usually the Head of course. There is then a SHA...

Use a single census entry for whole family

Hi all
Not a newbie to Family History but new to FH
When entering a census fact how do I avoid making the same entry to all family on the census page.
In other words can I apply that one fact to all the family?
Many Thanks
Paul
