Re: Informant and date registered on death certificates

The alternative sentence template makes much more sense. Thanks for the link Nick, there's a lot more going on here than I realised so I will need to read through it and think how it affects my use of FH.

Informant and date registered on death certificates

I've noticed that when information about the informant on a death certificate is recorded it is recorded against the date of death rather than when the death was registered. For instance, I have a death certificate for Eliza Croft where the date of death was 11 Dec 1874 and this was registered by he...

Re: converting existing generic Source records to templated Source records

No plans at present to import or export GEDCOM files, in fact I haven't got to the stage of publishing anything so far, it's all for personal use. But noted that Source Templates can cause problems and for that reason I don't intend to use them for the basics births, marriages, deaths etc. For anyon...

Re: converting existing generic Source records to templated Source records

Thanks both for your prompt replies. I think writing a plugin might be a bit like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut, I only have about 10 sources I want to convert. I suspect that they are not particularly well structured either as they are for source types that I rarely use - hence why I want to...

converting existing generic Source records to templated Source records

I've upgraded from FH 6.2 to 7.0. Having read a lot of the information about source templates I've decided that I'd like to convert a few of my old 'obscure' source records to use source templates to make them more consistent. Gravestones, newspaper items, books, that sort of thing. Is it possible t...

Re: Named list notes query

Thanks for highlighting the report, I hadn't noticed that. Better than nothing I suppose. I'd spotted the HasNoteInList() function, which gave me hope that the actual note could be accessed in some way. It's frustrating have a query that tells me a note exists but I can't actually see what it says. ...

Named list notes query

I want to create a query that lists all members of a named list together with some other information. How do include the notes that I've entered in the named list in this query? I can't spot them anywhere in the columns and am not aware of a function that returns them. Any clues as to their whereabo...

Re: Splitting an individual record

Thanks both. When I started with Family Historian a couple of months ago I took the view that I would keep to the basic package and ignore the plugins as I would be more in control of what I was doing. But having read other posts and installed Ancestral Sources and Add a GRO source I've changed my m...

Splitting an individual record

I have a set of facts, mostly census, against an individual. I have now discovered that this is not one individual but two -some of the facts relate to individual A and some to individual B. Is there any way that I can split an individual record so that I can choose which facts go with which individ...

Re: Facts after death

<<'don't date the fact'>> That never occurred to me! I think that's a good solution as it allows me to record the occupation and cite where it's recorded without it mucking up any time line facts. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I gave the example of occupation of a deceased father on a...

Facts after death

How do people include facts that are recorded in a source after a person has died? The sort of thing I'm thinking about is when someone gets married then their father's occupation may well be on the marriage certificate even if the father is dead. Occupation is a 'life' time frame fact. What I need ...

Marriage Type

I am new to Family Historian and even newer to Ancestral Sources so forgive me if this is a question with an obvious answer - if it is I can't find it :? When entering a marriage in Ancestral Sources there's a drop down box for Marriage Type (after Banns etc. ). I can see that this is used to genera...
