Simple Birth Certificate Plugin
I have written and been using a plugin to record birth certificates for about a year. This plugin uses the Civil Registration Certificate source template from the essential collection. Whist there are alternatives such as the DEA plugin or Ancestral Sources, I thought this provided an easier method ...

Re: Getting Display Resolution
Thanks to your help, I have managed to write a function to automatically resize a dialog to be within the size of the screen. A little more challenging than I had hoped (and careful reading of the IUP documentation) , but with using a scrollbox in the dialog have managed to scale a reasonable size d...

Re: Getting Display Resolution
Thanks Getting the SCREENSIZE attribute finds the information perfectly. I can do that when the plugin first starts so that I can adjust the dialog to be displayed at the appropriate size (or to say that the resolution is too low to support the dialog). The information had to be somewhere, I just co...

Re: Getting Display Resolution
I thought of that, but it seems that you have to set the dialog to 'FULLxFULL' and then apply that setting to get the screen resolution. I then have to reset the dialog size to a smaller value, if that is all I need. That gives a flickering dialog form. However, it does work. I thought there might b...

Getting Display Resolution
I can easily get the size of a dialog, but have not yet identified how to get the corresponding size of the display itself.
Does anyone know how to get the display size (preferably in pixels) and what is the maximum safe size for the design of a dialog screen.

Re: Simple Marriage Certificate Plugin
Teresa
Thanks for trying this out. I knew the help screen would be too large, hence I put it in a scrolled text box; I should have thought this may be too large as well.
Hopefully this will work for you.
Calico Pie have already posted the update (within the hour).
Best of luck
Norman

Re: Simple Marriage Certificate Plugin
Hi Normie, Alas, it failed for me. I use a 17" Win10 Pro laptop, yet the display on your plugin ran off the top and bottom of the page and effectively froze FH for me, forcing me to kill it using Task Manager. Attached is a screenshot:SimpleMarriageCertPlugin.jpg I couldn't find a way to adjus...

Re: Simple Marriage Certificate Plugin
Thanks for trying this out. Sorry had not taken into account that the screen may be too large. Scrollbars would be the nicer option, something I had adapted the help screen to have. The intention was to avoid tabs so that everything is visible on a single screen. I will explore what options are poss...

Re: Plugins planned/in progress
I am not quite sure whether this thread is still active. However, spurred by Chris Read's recent contribution, I have been looking over the plugins I have developed to see if they would be interest in adding these to the store. The first three I have thought maybe worthwhile offering were adding a B...

Re: GRO Source Reference plugin
So, I applied for an account, fought with the Authors crappy Wordpress based web interface and submitted it. That elicited some feedback from a user who pointed out some things I'd missed (because they were things I didn't do in my way of working) from the original. So, I'm about to release an upda...

Re: GRO Source Reference plugin
I now need to go and find out how to get this into the plug-in store, as I think it is worthwhile, and adds features well beyond the original version, even if it basically does the same thing. Chris, I posted a complimentary plugin (Add GRO Index Entries) over a year ago. That is my sole contributi...

Re: Plugin advice in Plugin Store for users
Having being prompting to consider my contribution to the Plugin Store, I have been looking through this thread, perhaps rather belatedly. At present I only have a single plugin in the store and have not had an issue raised to date. However, I have considered how users of the plugins can get support...

Re: Potential Probate Plugin
I am aware of the policy and reasons behind it. I have offered plugins in this forum on several occasions in the past. I have also developed a number of plugins for personal use, but would be reluctant to progress them further through this forum because of the need to provide links; that is a person...

Re: Potential Probate Plugin
Chris Having read you thread on GRO Source Reference I appreciate that you had looked for comments and posted a supported completed version for general use. I accept the policy for prototyping plugins, even though I not convinced having links are better that posting plugin sources directly. I am per...

Re: Potential Probate Plugin
I just added a GRO Source Reference plugin to the store, even though there are already a couple of ones in there. I did it because I wanted a go at a plugin out of interest, and I wanted to add some features that I wanted and a smarter UI that knew about changes in the GRO Indexes. My personal feel...

Re: Potential Probate Plugin
The short answer is no. I still use it myself but was not sure that it would be worth adding it to the store, especially as it needed to be enhanced to meet other users needs. I added a GRO Index Entries plugin last year, but have never had any feedback from that, so I am sceptical of the benefit of...

Re: Census Template Title generation
Nick
That explains and solves the problem.
It looks as I looked at the GEDCOM file after adding the census entry and before FH had resaved the file.
Confirm that resaving the file in FH fixes the anomaly. (A simple reload without a subsequent save in FH, leaves the _AUTO in).

Census Template Title generation
I have been using the Census Template in Ancestral sources to record census entries. In looking at the GEDCOM file I have noticed that the title for the source has recently changed and now longer matches the title shown in FH. Up until a few days ago the GEDCOM file looked like this: 1 TITL 1921 Eng...

Re: Add GRO Source plugin
Mike Thanks for clarifying this. As you say, mine is based on templated sources and thus I suspect will be quite different to yours. Given that, I accept it is appropriate to have both versions available; assuming that the difference is obvious to users. I will leave my version in the plugin store. ...

Re: Add GRO Source plugin
I have been persuaded to formally publish the 'Add GRO Source' plugin in the Plugin Store for FH V7, and after approval, it will exist as Add GRO Index Source Citation Version 1.0 Date 26 May 2023. Then all attachments of the 'Add GRO Source' plugin will be deleted. Just to avoid confusion, I poste...

I too am interested in this plugin, but have no experience whatsoever with writing/editing plugins. If you have time to make the below changes, I'd appreciate it. Attached changes I have suggested. I have not thoroughly tested, so let me know if you encounter any issues. Probate.fh_lua Norman
