Sorry again,
I discovered how to do it: simply click on the current project folder location.
Thanks again.

Re: Move user data folder location on same PC
Hello tatewise,
You're absolutely right. I missed that folder under My Documents.
Sorry for the confusion.
It's the user project file location that I want to modify.
Can I change this to a different location, say to a folder on my D drive?

Move user data folder location on same PC
Hello, I've been tidying up my PC, and I noticed that the project folder location for FH is under the ProgramData folder on the Windows C: drive (Windows 10): https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=glossary:family_historian_program_data_folder Is there a reason for this specific location, and not ...

Re: Everyone v All Relatives chart
@tatewise, Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to generate one chart that I could then distribute to everyone. Is there any particular reason that the formatting for Everyone chart is so poor, given that the auto-formatting for the other charts works very well? @ BobWard, Thanks for taking the troubl...

Everyone v All Relatives chart
Hello, I've been using FH on and off for about a year, and so far have been impressed. Also my direct family have been impressed with the FT chart it generates. This is the problem I now have. My many cousins and other relatives would like a copy, which means rebasing the generated chart each time f...

Re: Create dynamic website
Thanks ColeValleyGirl.
As I understand it, FH's strength is its data gathering ability and GEDCOM compatibility. For online publishing, I should use other software, such as GedSite, Gedmill or Ancestral Author.

Re: Create dynamic website
Thanks Mike for confirming what I had suspected. I've added my vote for this feature. For me, this is the essential point of creating a family tree website. This would allow my extended family to use the site to dynamically display charts that are of specific interest to them. I would expect that ca...

Re: Create dynamic website
Many thanks tatewise, Jane and dewilkinson for the replies. What I meant was: From the generated website, is it possible to generate on the fly, a diagrammatic view, similar to what I see from within FH itself when I click on an entry in the Records window and then select one of the diagram types, s...

Create dynamic website
Hello, Still learning how to use FH, I'm now trying to create the first online version my family tree. Am I correct in saying that the website can only display a text-based summary of family links? Ie, is it possible to dynamically generate and display family ancestors and descendants? I haven't bee...

Re: New user, too many duplicate record ribbons
Mike, Thanks for the repl,y. I understand the logic behind the use of ribbons to represent the same person multiple times on the Everyone diagram. However, I don't have 4th cousins with a common ancestor that have married, as described in the book. This is why I was wondering if there was a log file...

New user, too many duplicate record ribbons
Hello, I've just started using using v6.2 of FH, I've also bought the accompanying book "Getting the best from FH v6", and working though the sample project, while building up my own project in parallel. So far I've enjoyed the learning how to use the software. I've been experimenting with the diagr...

Re: New trial user: Cannot install on Windows 7
Many thanks Mike,
I found the cause of the problem.
BitDefender has an "Advanced Threat Defence" feature. When I added fh.exe to the whitelist, it worked.

New trial user: Cannot install on Windows 7
Hello, As a first time user, I've been trying to install a trial version of FH v6.2 on my 64-bit Win7 machine. During the installation, I get the pop-up message "Family History has stopped working". I have attached a screenshot. I've been looking around the forum, and came across the post regarding ...
