Opening Version 7 tree
I have just upgraded from ver 6 to 7.
In 6, when I loaded my tree it always opened at the focus page. Now, when I open I have a blank page with the floating project box.
How do I get it to open as previously.

Re: Missing media
Hi, I have solved the puzzle and everything now working. Although I still don't understand how the Media folder got moved. I would like to thank you for your patience and help, you managed to get me thinking a bit deeper than I'm used to. I now have a better understanding of where things should be a...

Re: Missing media
Part of my problem is that I don't always clearly understand your question. I've never been involved with file paths, other than following pop up instructions when I save anything. I'm generally okay with computers but I am 78, so getting a bit slower these days. How the Project names or paths got m...

Re: Missing media
I think, the two strangely named projects are very old backups that got saved in the wrong place.
I cannot find a media file anywhere. I have tried all of the folders.

Re: Missing media
I don't understand why it shows My Heritage as the storage, I have not been with them for over three years now. I would have thought that my media should be in a Family Historian folder.

Re: Missing media
I backed up yesterday. Top left says 'Project'. I have been using Family Historian for nearly three years, and almost everyday, so generally, I know what I'm doing. I have never viewed 'External File Links' in Tools before. All media has been added via each individual's box, Media tab then 'add medi...

Re: Missing media
Where are your media files stored -- within your project? In directories away from your project? And/or somewhere like OneDrive or DropBox? Did anything unusual happen on your PC between yesterday and today (a crsh, a software installation, anything else)? Most importantly, DO NOTHING until we can ...

Missing media
Yesterday I had 2700+ media pics in my tree. Today I have none. On the Media display page, there are 2700 boxes with the name under each one, but each box has a cross in it. If I click on any one, it states, 'no file found'. If I go to an individual persons media view, it shows a file there but stat...

Re: Copying section of tree to cd
Very many thanks for your detailed reply.
I'm fine with Gedcoms, no problem there.
Ancestry won't let me on as I've had a free trial in the past but I'm sure I have other sites to which I can upload and then as you say invite.
Sorted!

Re: Copying section of tree to cd
Not important to include any pics but retain info in boxes. I have created a pdf but as it's for printing, it's rather odd trying to view it. It flicks from one page to another. I understand it but the recipient I don't believe will. They have just started an Ancestry.com tree. Would I need to know ...

Copying section of tree to cd
I want to send a portion of family tree diagram to another relative. I know how to make a person 'root' and produce the diagram but don't know if the only option is to create a gedcom, which the recipient does not understand. Is there anyway of copying a simple ancestors tree diagram to cd which the...
