Re: Running Family Historian on Crossover
I wonder if you'll have any issues with the rich-text in Family Historian. e.g. try creating a table in a note (see screenshot below). See if you can edit the table OK - add text to it, widen or narrow the columns, etc. Hi Nick, I can create a table and can type into it ok but can't edit or resize ...

Re: Running Family Historian on Crossover
A new user installing Crossover with FH & AS won't have that experience and won't know the FH & AS features well enough to identify if they are broken or not and what workarounds may exist. Quite correct. I read through Kb Crossover/Linux page and didn't understand much of the information a...

Re: Source field query
It seems that KB advice 'Running Family Historian on Crossover' should be added to the 'Maintaining the KnowledgeBase' forum so that experts in using Crossover with FH V7 and AS V7 can describe the required updates. Yes, the Knowledge Base Crossover advice page is outdated, it states - "The ad...

Re: Source field query
It might be worth adding an auto signature to your profile (similar to Nick’s description of AS) giving your system configuration. There are a number of FH7 features that don’t work correctly (or at all) under Crossover, so it will act as a reminder for future postings so you don’t have to mention ...

Re: Source field query
Some of it needs updating but to install Ancestral Sources (AS) the Microsoft .NET Framework V3.5 SP1 is needed. This isn't correct - Ancestral Sources has used .Net Framework 4.8 for the last 3 years since version 7. But you are correct that the .Net Framework will need to be installed before AS. ...

Re: Source field query
Have you seen the FHUG Knowledge Base advice on Running Family Historian on Crossover ? Some of it needs updating but to install Ancestral Sources (AS) the Microsoft .NET Framework V3.5 SP1 is needed. The advice says that in Crossover you must tick the Microsoft .NET Framework option before install...

2) At some point soon you should try and read the Knowledge Base on sources and citations - https://fhug.org.uk/kb/kb-article/sources-and-citations-in-version-7-for-new-users/ But take your time over it... ;) In particular, see the link to "Ancestral Sources" in the bottom section titled ...

Source field query
Hello, I've been entering family information into FH for several years but foolishly neglected to add source information at the same time. Now I have the daunting task of adding source info for several hundred individuals, but before I get too far into it I would like to know if they way I'm filling...

Just a short update regarding FHV7 in Linux via Crossover following on from 22173|Too many spouses shown. . I found my first glitch last night when trying to add photos to individuals in my family tree. I click on the "media" tab, and "add media from files" and it works ok if I n...

Re: Too many spouses shown.
See the FHUG Knowledge Base article Running Family Historian on Crossover that you may find useful. See FH Store webpage https://store.family-historian.co.uk/product/family-historian-7-upgrade/ that offers a discount for version 5 users which is normally 20%. Re: Too many spouses shown.
As Mike explained, the default setting in V7 is for the Focus window to open on the last person who was in focus. (This option can be changed in Tools> Preferences > Start up.) By clicking on the second spouse you made them the focus person. Bear in mind that if you happen to have a different perso...

Re: Too many spouses shown.
redx593, please update your profile to show that you're using V7, to help people better answer your queries in future. Click on your username (top right), the Profile, then Edit Profile. All done, sorry 'bout that. Double clicking on the 2nd spouse removed the 1st spouse from view and when I closed...

Thankyou Lorna and Tatewise, Your solutions make good sense, I'll give them a try. "You are running FH V5 " For years I used FH version 5 in my Windows 7 computer but I switched to being a full time Linux user with Linux Mint 2.0 installed on my other desktop pc. I tried using the free Lin...

Too many spouses shown.
Hello, When I start up Family Historian 7 it shows my name and the data I entered for myself but it also shows the names and information of my first and second spouses. I have been married twice but don't want to be constantly reminded of it. Is there a way to display at startup the information abou...

Re: Linux with FH 5.0 (SOLVED)
I strongly advise that you experiment with ALL the features of FH V5 you often use before declaring the problem solved............. I consider solved my question if FH can be run in Linux. Whether it runs properly or not is another story and I never expected that it would. I haven't had time to pla...

Linux with FH 5.0 (SOLVED)
Hi again, Just wondering if FamilyHistorian versions 5 or 6 can be run in a Linux OS. I use Linux Mint 19.1 on my other computer and love it. I'd really like to have my FamilyHistorian program running on my Linux Mint machine, because FamilyHistorian is the only thing keeping me tied to Windows. If ...
