Re: Changing a person's name and father link
Hi, I've tried to show Mary VALANTINE\Price as both the child of William WILCOCK and Mary VALANTINE (an unmarried couple but William put his name as father when Mary was baptised) but also link her to William Robert PRICE who her mother married in 1861. Mary took her step-father's name at this point...

Re: Changing a person's name and father link
Hi Mike, Thank you so much for your reply. I have been reading through those links and I 'think' I'm on the right course, although I've got things mixed up a couple of times but I'm getting there I think! Although I've been researching my own and my husband's trees for some time, I've not had Family...

Re: Changing a person's name and father link
Ahhh ...... I think by having another look at the beginners' section, I 'may' have determined the stepfather/father change! Just playing with it now and hoping I don't totally mess thing up!

Changing a person's name and father link
I am new to using FH and unsure how to change what I have already set up on FH. I'd be really grateful for help/advice on what to do! My husband's great-grandparents are shown on their marriage certificate as John William DIXON and Mary PRICE. On the certificate, John William's father is also John W...

Re: Recording a Certificate with incorrect information
Hi, Thank you for your help and for looking into VINALLs for me :) Sorry for the delay in replying; I decided to send off for what I believe are the death certificates for Richard VINALL and Mary VINALL and wanted to wait before replying so that I could incorporate information gleaned from their dea...

Re: Recording a Certificate with incorrect information
As a postscript, after Charles Vinall's birth in 1858, I have no idea what happened to Emma Vinall ..... or at least in searching, I've never been totally happy that anything I've found is her! If she could only have conveniently married, her marriage certificate would be interesting!! If anyone has...

Re: Recording a Certificate with incorrect information
Your kind suggestions have now got me wondering again!! It is always useful to have input from someone else. I have the baptism records for both Eliza and Elizabeth Vinall. In fact, I've trawled through the GRO birth registers searching for any Vinalls born from 1837 (for completeness!) through to 1...

Re: Recording a Certificate with incorrect information
Hi, Thank you both for your suggestions. I will have a little play! I have also been promised the book you suggested as a birthday present in a couple of weeks time so will have a good look at that plus the Key Features, thank you. The details on the various census entries does support this odd situ...

Recording a Certificate with incorrect information
Hi, I am a newbie to using Family Historian and Ancestral Sources, although I've been researching both my own and my husband's family for some time. I used to use another program which didn't have any real mechanism for recording sources but I've been inputting all my data into Family Historian as a...
