Re: Existence of a field definition in Source Template

Thank you everybody for your suggestions. I eventually used Mike's solution as it was more automatic especially after initial setup.

Existence of a field definition in Source Template

Hello, I apologise if I have already asked this but VirginMedia have loats all my emails and therefore questions I have asked in FHUG. I am looking to check for the existence of 2 common field definitions I have in my Source Templates. Yes I could go through them one at a time but I was looking for ...

Re: Reporting Customised Source Citations

Perfect. Understood it now. Its the name of the references in the Source Template Definitions. You cant select it from normal lists which is fixed information. So expression must be used to pick up specifics.

Thanks Mike.

Kind Regards, Alan

Reporting Customised Source Citations

With the introduction of FH7 it became possible to create customised source templates. I did this and created a subset of customised source templates. So I have the name of the Source Template collection which is "FH7 Custom Sources". Within this I had a custom template called "PR Burial". One of th...

Re: TMG Imported Citation Detail

Thanks Mike. Just tested this out and it appears to work OK. I haven't checked the results 100%. My guess for CP not doing this is people have had issues in TMG and TMG source definitions that look similar and maybe changed come across as variants. On top of this I think there maybe an underlying fa...

Re: TMG Imported Citation Detail

One thing that was not clear here for me that the import created all the source templates and a collection of TMG import but it does not seem to have created the Source Citation master with a collection of TMG import. When I work with Tools and then with Source Citation Definition all I see is the A...

Re: Formating census age to ignore literal "yrs"

Thanks Mike. It will suffice because I am really using this for 1841 to 1911 as99% time it is round years unlike 1921 census.

Formating census age to ignore literal "yrs"

Hi, I am using FH 7.0.20. I am trying to build a matrix of UK census dates so that uner each census I can see the persons age. This shows me missing census entries and also any possible errors if the age does go up or down 10 years +/-1. The expression I am using is ... %INDI.CENS[year=1901].AGE%, T...

Re: Source Template Definition and Generic Type

Mike, That was great and works perfectly. :D. Really appreciate your help. I did a number of tests with Census and 1939 Register. This was my final string... {=TextIf( %SOUR._TYPE%="Register", "1939 Register", Text( %SOUR._TYPE% . ", " . %SOUR.~DT-YEAR% ) )}, {Head_of_Household:SURNAME} {Head_of_Hou...

Source Template Definition and Generic Type

Environment: FH7.0.19, AS 7.7.2, Windows 11 22H2 Typically my namimg conventions follow the same format for media attachments, source titles and source citations and that is ffff, yyyy, ssss gggg where ffff = fact type, yyyy = year, ssss = keyperson surname, gggg = keyperson given names The only exc...

Re: Using Function YEAR with Source Templates

:D Thank you Peter. That worked perfectly. Looks like I tried to make it harder than it was. Are there any good places to read up on how to use some of these functions?

Using Function YEAR with Source Templates

I have a source template definition which has a date field and I want to use the year of the date field to populate the Footnote and Record Title formats.. My goal is to call the footnote, for example, "PR Burial, 1876, Ide William". The year appears in a death date in this source template. I checke...

Re: Adding 'Relationship to Root' to Query

Hi Mike, I am a newbie to FH so still trying to understand data flow between the different query types. I have a Fact Query but I wanted to add a relationship to the root so I could prioritize my research. I applied "=Relationship( FileRoot(), %INDI%, TEXT, 1 )" to a Fact Query but got an error "Inv...
