how to safely delete Facts?
I am preparing to migrate from TMG to FH. In so doing, I have tested the direct import of lots of TMG databases with some crazy custom Facts that I will want to delete. However, I also have some native FH databases with custom Facts that I want to keep. The crazy and keeper Facts appear in no Fact S...

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Thanks for the clear explanation, Mike, and for the time that you spend in helping us! You were very generous to say that my "analysis is almost correct but not quite", since I don't think I understood at all :) . (I will strike out the part of my previous message that was wrong to avoid spreading m...

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Mike, I'd like to summarize to make sure I understand the priority that your plugin currently assigns to the information available to it. Please correct me if I misunderstand something. Based on my testing, the information (pertaining to Individuals) in FH on which _SDATE relies is: If present, use ...

Re: Importing citation details
Yes, "-" is a negative Surety. Here is the quote from TMG help: "-= the source does not support the information cited or this information has been disproved".
Thanks for the follow-up instructions. I will make the suggestion to Calico Pie.

Re: Importing citation details
The value of the Sureties is that they cover the principals, date, place, and memo. I would personally much prefer to have them placed in the FH Citation Note field (if that is the best/only place for them) than to have P1, P2, and Date omitted. If you would be willing to work your magic on this, I ...

Re: Importing citation details
Thanks for thinking this through, Mike! I have a couple of questions. Just to further my understanding (I have a long way to go!), why is FH Fact Date different from Fact Place in not being allowed its own Assessment? That is a critical piece of information not to be able to assess. Wouldn't your op...

Re: Importing citation details
In TMG, a Surety value can be assigned in 5 "slots" for each citation (principal 1, principal 2, date, place, and memo) to "indicate the quality of a source in documenting a given fact". TMG defines the values as follows: "3= an original source, close in time to the event 2= a reliable secondary sou...

Re: Importing citation details
I have a hypothesis about how the FH Assessment is determined that fits my data. Given a set of 5 TMG Surety values, it appears that FH takes the lowest Surety value and maps it to the FH Assessment as follows: 3 -> Primary evidence 2 -> Secondary evidence 1 -> Questionable 0 -> Unreliable So, Suret...

Re: Version 6.1 Relationship Citations
A follow-up question to make sure that I fully understand your recommended best practice. It is not uncommon for the only evidence for the identity of the parent of an individual to come from a record other than a birth record such as baptism, marriage, death, probate, a biography, etc. Do you recom...

Re: Version 6.1 Relationship Citations
Thanks Mike and Simon! It is very helpful to hear from experienced users (not to mention developers
) to get a sense for how to use the FH features.

Re: Version 6.1 Relationship Citations
Thanks, Mike. I missed the instructions there because I was reading under "Enhancement for TMG users". Since the event that determined a biological father-child relationship preceded the birth by about 9 months and the father might have died in the meantime, I wonder whether the note technique for s...

Version 6.1 Relationship Citations
I am looking at FH as a possible new home (migrating from TMG). Although I can successfully add a citation, I can't quite figure out how to use the new FH 6.1 capability to cite a source for a relationship from the sources pane of the property box. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks...
