Huge thanks Mike! Followed your instructions and got 'named list' boxes to work. :D This seems to be the best way forward for me now. Still having problems with opening a saved chart with the coloured boxes but it's most probably operator error :lol: and possibly a long-winded way of doing things.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I created a named list (tatewise) and added a person to it but then couldn't see how I could then change the colour of the persons box to show he was in a list. I will most probably upgrade to V6 in the New Year.

I am viewing a tree diagram but a divorced couple still seem to be 'married' as the = linking the 2 individual name boxes does not have a slash through it.

I have made sure the status is set to divorced.

How can I get the symbol to change on the diagram.
