Re: Where to install
Should I also reinstall FH as 64 Bit? It is all very new so I could easily re-import my Gedcom.

Where to install
Family Historian is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\. My Projects are under Dropbox as C:\Users\Me\Dropbox\Family Historian Projects\. As per discussion at http://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=13016. Given this, do I let Ancestral Sources install to the default location, also Progra...

Re: Sources simplification and citations
As advised, I have been clicking around on Forum postings and Knowledge Base articles for recording census sources and I have the impression that I am not alone in getting a spinning head. In theory, I "think" I like the concept of recording a complete "household" census from its original contents. ...

Re: Sources simplification and citations
Thanks for the kind responses. I am glad my issue is of some interest. Adrian, in writing: " if you had to alter the details of a "citation" for some reason - how easily can you find the text, and how many copies of that text do you have to alter (one per "fact")? " Could I ask you for some illustra...

Re: Sources simplification and citations
Thanks for your full reply Mike, and apologies that the season has had me away from such matters for a few days. I will look into your directions. As to your last para, I am a long-time and rigorous researcher who goes to great lengths to cite as much detail as possible, and I decry those who cannot...

Sources simplification and citations
I have two basic questions. The first asks what source citation formats FH users have settled upon. With censuses, for example, I long decided that I don't want an individual source name for each census and each census year, in England, Scotland, Ireland, US, Canada or Australia. For this, for the p...

Re: USB 2 computers
Thanks Mike. Seems to be set up, both computers finding the files.
Can I quickly append a question without starting a new topic? How do I get FH to re-open at the person who was active in the focus window when FH was last closed?
Bill

Re: USB 2 computers
Thanks very much Mike. I believe I agree with you re the cloud vs USB stick. I have Dropbox free version installed and synced on my computers and devices. I have just cleaned it out and have 90% of 2.8GB free. But I am curious about your (FH's) statement relating to "...the Dropbox folder created in...

USB 2 computers
I've read and acted on the topic "Sharing Data using a USB Stick". I now have a dedicated drive letter applied to the empty USB. So far, before this, FH has been installed in my Windows 10 laptop and one project gedcom loaded. FH is in its C drive and a folder named Family Historian Projects is in m...

Re: Brother's Keeper new subscriber
Ouch. I am a long-time researcher, and all that time I have kept upgrading BK. When (and if) I get up to speed with FH, probably it would be my intention to keep BK, at no cost, in reserve, but not adding to it. These days I am entering very few new names. I am anticipating that FH will be much bett...

Brother's Keeper new subscriber
Hi everyone. I am a new trial subscriber to FH. My genealogy society is running a new potential FH users group, I think originally emanating from their existing TMG users group. I attended one (only) of their TMG meetings and decided it was not for me, largely because I thought it was too big a lear...
