Re: Specific Sentence Templates not honoured.

A bit late to the party; however, yes. I'm also using FH v7.0.11.

Re: Specific Sentence Templates not honoured.

Local sentence definitions are working for me.

For example... In my sister's Death sentence, I changed the global "died" to "was found deceased" and that is output in the Individual Narrative.

Re: Questions from TMG Refugee

Property Box (individual) / Facts tab / facts list Is there a way to make each fact in the Facts tab list display using two rows rather than one? That's why showing the note for each tag worked in TMG. You could control how many rows each tag in the list used. I had it set to two rows so more of a n...

Re: Plugin Export Gedcom File

Linda,

Occupation is a standard GEDCOM attribute. The standard Occupation tag type in TMG should be set to export as OCCU. FH7 will import those tags as attributes.

We've talked about this but I don't recall why you would have a custom Occupation tag type in TMG.

Re: Plugin Export Gedcom File

I'm seeing a similar thing for a different fact type. I'm using a test TMG data set imported to FH7 to look at source import in GedSite from FH7. The TMG import created a project-specific TMG fact set. My global custom fact set has the fact type as an attribute. The TMG project fact type set has the...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event

The 2-principal TMG import issue could be resolved with a plug-in and this is a much simpler solution than messing with the current TMG import code. The user would need to create an appropriate family fact type. The user backs up and runs the plug-in. 1) Enter the names of the fact type (individual)...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event

Mike, Thanks for the quote. I filed this support request... Could these rules be followed for the TMG import? 1) Every Tag with 2 Principal Persons as spouses/partners becomes a Family Fact (Event/Attribute) 2) Every Tag with 2 Principal Persons not spouses/partners becomes an Individual Fact of 1st...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event

Mike, John Cardinal is doing the same with custom 2-principal events with his TMG to GEDCOM application. The reason is that TMG allows 2-principal non-family events (the principals are not married or the parents of a child). Making the 2nd principal a witness allows all 2-principal events to be expo...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event

To support what Linda said... I wrote... > I'm pretty sure that all 2-principal _custom_ events are importing as described in the previous paragraph whether they have witnesses or not. I need to investigate this further. All TMG custom events with 2 principals, Residence events with 2 principals, Ce...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event

Mike, From my testing, TMG residence events with 2 principals and no witnesses are importing as individual events with the 2nd principal as a witness with the role 'Principal 2'. I'm pretty sure that all 2-principal _custom_ events are importing as described in the previous paragraph whether they ha...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event

Mike, Linda's first issue is a fundamental change in the FH7 import from TMG. FH6 imported family events with 2 principals as family events with 2 principals. FH7 imports family events with 2 principals as individual events with the 2nd principal as a witness with the role 'Principal 2'. We're tryin...

Re: TMG witness import

Thanks, MIke.

Your fix and an additional '.' did the job

I did peruse the sentence template help page but didn't go far enough down. My bad.

So I have three issues to report to CP for the TMG import.

TMG witness import

FH v7.0.2.0 I created a simple test in TMG. For each witness to a census event, I added a note for each witness. The census event has a note. The witnesses and witness notes were imported and show in the Witnesses window. All have the role "Witness". The import created a local sentence for each witn...

Re: Rootsmagic->Family Historian

v7.0.2.0 - Added a fact definition for the “Residence (family)” fact (new in GEDCOM 5.5.1).

This fixes the import of family resident tags from the RootsMagic GEDCOM.

Re: Rootsmagic->Family Historian

Mike, I understand that FH7 should support 1 RESI tags in the family records section. This was just a fix for now while I'm working through the other issues in the RM GEDCOM regarding the FH import. I would prefer to retain the family Residence tags as family tags. At the moment, the RM8 GEDCOM does...

Re: Rootsmagic->Family Historian

What I did with the RM family Residence tags was to change them from 1 RESI to 1 EVEN 2 TYPE Residence (fam) in the GEDCOM before import. I extracted the family records section from the GEDCOM, did a global search and replace in LibreOffice Writer, and then added the family records section back into...

Re: Importing citation details

Mike, Here's how TMG exports a dummy citation to GEDCOM 5.5. 2 SOUR @S1@ 3 PAGE citation detail; citation reference 3 NOTE citation memo 3 QUAY 1 The citation reference export is optional and is appended to the citation detail if selected. TMG doesn't follow the GEDCOM specs and will extend the PAGE...

Re: Importing citation details

Mike, If you export a GEDCOM from TMG and then import that GEDCOM to FH, the data will be in appropriate fields. <g> The TMG 'Citation Detail' should go to the FH 'Where within source' field. The TMG 'Citation memo' could go to either the FH 'Text from Source' or Note field. FH has two fields in tha...

Re: Importing citation details

I see exactly the same issue with the TMG citation fields being imported to incorrect FH fields after doing a direct import with FH v6.04. It was very easy to repair my FH database by globally editing the FH GEDCOM since my citation data is simple and absolutely consistent. For many users, however, ...
