Re: Linked census records
Ok I understand what you're saying. But when I look up the citations for a source after using AS, I now have a ton of duplicate citations that if I make an error and need to correct, I'll have to edit each individual citation. So say if I had a family of 13 members, which I have several, that's 13 c...

Re: Linked census records
If I do that then I have multiple copies of the citation. Being a lumper, I use the witness to generate the roles and then the citation is lumped. If I need to go back and edit it, I only have to edit one copy. Looking at AS option 2, I don't see the ability to do this as pointed out before.

Re: Linked census records
When I create a census event, I then use the link icon to select each person in the census and assign them their role. The event is now shared by each person. I can easily add or delete a person, and have FH add or remove the event for that person. Using AS, I'm getting no indication that the event ...

Linked census records
I've just started using Ancestral Sources and was wondering if it can can link a census event to other family members and include their roles similar to using the link icon in properties.

Is there an easier way to use merge
I'm cleaning up an import from another program and finding a lot of duplicates. Is there an easier way to merge instead of having to go to menu and drill down to it every time. Seems like it should have been in the right click context menu.

Re: Exporting to Gramps
Ok, I figured out what is going on. FH doesn't use Titles for citations and so it doesn't know that field to use in the citation for the citation description. I let my family know that when they get the gedcom, there is going to be a lot of work cleaning up the citations under Gramps.

Re: Seperate Facts and attributes in property box
Sorry, just go my computer back up this morning after installing a new OS on one of my drives messed up and wiped all my drives. Glad I make lots of backups. What I'm used to is Events and Facts as two different things, but a lot of programs treat them the same. In the attributes tab I created becau...

Re: Seperate Facts and attributes in property box
I'm not wanting the developers to add a attributes tab, we can do that on our own. I' was wondering if there was a way to hide attributes from displaying under the Facts tab. To me its too distracting having them showing on the timeline and just have them under their own tag.

Re: Seperate Facts and attributes in property box
That is what I'm doing for now. But now its an extra step cause I have to put in a sort date to move them to bottom of list.

Re: Seperate Facts and attributes in property box
Residence and Occupations to me are events as both can change over time in a persons life. Things like SSN, Familysearch ID and such very seldom change over time and are placed under a Attribute tab I created. I also created a tab for flags for never married, no children, End of Line, etc.

Seperate Facts and attributes in property box
I'm use to how Gramps seperates events from facts and was trying to do the same thing in FH. I created a Tab called attributes that I have things such as SSN, Familysearch ID, Findagrave ID, hair color and so forth. The problem is if I add something to these, it is also displayed under the facts tab...

Exporting to Gramps
I need to export a gedcom to gramps for a relative and having a problem. On importing the gedcom created by FH7, the citations are imported but there is no Volume/page showing. I tried this with a few other genealogy programs and get the same results. I'm I doing something wrong. I also tried the Ex...

Re: Weblinks in Notes
When I tried that it deleted the text also. I just switched to using plain text instead of importing into tables for now. I liked using importing into the tables as it saved me a lot of typing to align columns.

Weblinks in Notes
When doing a copy/paste from some websites into notes, some web links are also copied. Edit weblink doesn't allow you to remove these links, so I have to delete and then retype the info without the link. We need a way to remove all weblinks in a note or at least the selected one.

Re: Long fact names in properties
FH7 and RM9 both handle adding the role of a person to the event very similar. The difference is that RM defaults to the {role name} - {label} whereas FH7 I have to add it to the Summary Template for each role or I get a long drawn out role description in properties.

I tried using the help you listed, was a little hard to understand as there are too few examples. Your example greatly helped me to understand what was needed. Thank you.

Help with fact sentence
I moved over from RM9 and having trouble converting my fact role sentences to FH. How do I go about converting the following sentence. <%Person% [Thisperson:HeShe] was listed as a [Thisperson:role] in the household of [Thisperson:HisHer] father, [Person]|[Thisperson:HeShe] was listed as a [Thisperso...

Long fact names in properties
Is there a way to use short fact names in the property box. For example, instead of: Mary Jane Doe was listed as the wife of to: Wife - Census similar to the way RM9 does it. Since the detail information like, date, place and such are displayed lower down in the properties box, this seem kind of red...

Re: Enhancement to the Citations to Source Records command
Ok, I took a month off from genealogy and came back. Look at my citations again and playing around, I found if I edit the main citation at persons property window and then share it that only one copy of the citation is created but shared. I then had to go to each person in the census and then delete...

Re: Enhancement to the Citations to Source Records command
I'm looking at a plugin to perform this. With the Citations to Source record list, using the citation (footnote Text) column to be a guide to select matching footnote text. Then bring up a property box for one of the persons using that record and edit it. Then have the addon do a copy/paste to to ea...

I'm a lumper and would like to see a menu option for the Citations to Source records to enable you to select a citation and it lists all identical citations that match it, then allow you to edit one and update all the other matching citations.

Dragging between two open FH7 files
Is there a way to select a family branch on one Family Historion program and drag it over to another. I had a really old gedcom given to me that that I openned in FH, I have my main file open on another. What I'm looking for is selecting a family from the gedcom and dragging it over to my main.

Re: add search and replace to notes.
I'm talking about in the individual note windows not globally. The best editor I've seen is in Heredis genealogy software. It's a full text editor with tab settings and such like using MS Word. But it stores this in a database so something like that won't work for FH7.
