Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Mike, I'll try to upload my report .... Sorry, Mike, My report, which needs to be this size to show the sorting involved, is deemed to be too large to upload (max allowed 256k). I split the report into 2 pages but it won't allow even one of them. Again, thank you and sorry for your trouble. Doug

Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Mike, Thank you. The only examples I have on a computer are as attachments to an e-mail. I had to change computers to accomodate TM (Windows XP to 7). If you would like to send me an e-mail (douglas.adams@btopenworld.com) I can pass them to you this way. As I said, I will take the advice I have been...

Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Back now. I'll tale a look at all of the suggestions this evening and find a workaround. Again, thanks to everyone. This is a pity because, having been sent the joys of FH over TMG (it hasn't kept up, etc) I find a problem (for me) almost straight away. Because of the numbers of people in my 3 man t...

Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Lorna, Thank you. Will do as you suggest. Sorry, had to go out. In the car I worked out what had happened. In the FH6 displays each batch of children are sorted, not by date-of-birth, but by TMG record creation number. Fun this. Doug Going out again (to Karate) but I'll sort this when I get back in.

Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Thank you all. I'm sure I'll get there. Odd how the order within each family has changed, either in or because of the conversion. I'll take a look and sort it, including the beginners guide, later tonight. Again, Thank Youl

Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Thank you, Lorna, What I do see, and you are correct, is that for each generation, the person in my direct line has moved (in the family lists) to the head of the queue, preceding his older peers. This not how they were displayed, or still are, in TMG so the transfer process must be making an assump...

Re: TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Jane, Thank you, to a point. I've found and tried this. What my TMG report does is list every descendant of my chosen start point, all directs, all spouses and all children. It also list each family in strict chronological order, whereas this FH report appears to preselect those in my direct line an...

TMG Descendant Indented Chart

Hello, again, Having just moved on to Family Historian 6 from The Master Genealogist, I am now looking at the various ways my family tree information can be displayed. The most useful chart, which I always used for my busy families, on TMG was/is the Descendant Indented Chart, giving single line ent...

Importing from TMG

Jane, Thank you. It didn't take that long, once I'd read the instructions you pointed me to.
All my TMG projects, via external storage, are now safely within FH6, and re-backed up
on the same external storage. I can start playing now! Doug Adams
Thanks to the other members for gtheir assistance.

Re: Importing from TMG

Jane/John, Thank you. I'll let you know how I get on later this evening. Very kind of you both. My concern, which is probably something I did wrong, is that I did import one file through this process and it is listed in FH6 on the Laptop but it has no contents. Watch this space. Doug Adams

Re: Importing from TMG

Jane, I looked at the Knowledge Based link you gave me, but that seems to cover transferring TM fror one piece of hardware to another, not transferring from different software ... or I didn't read far enough. Doug Adams

Re: Importing from TMG

Jane, Thank you. Are you saying that I copy the TMG Projects File onto external storage (I can do that) , connect the external storage to my Laptop (I can do that) and then, within FH6 will I find a projects file into which I copy the entire TMG projects file contents, or just individual files. Will...

My Heritage Link

Hello, Having seen this forum for the first time this afternoon, I have read some comments about a link to 'My Heritage'. Could someone briefly clarify what this is? If it is something I missed when installing FH6, can I uncouple my files from it? Many thanks Doug Adams

Importing from TMG

Help, One idiot question, I'm afraid. I have all of my TMG projects on a desktop/Windows XP. I have just loaded Family Historian 6 onto a Laptop / Windows 7. I transferred (or thought I had) one of my projects *****_PJC from the old PC to the newer PC by sending myself an e-mail with this as an atta...
