Re: On linux, Drag and Drop media to source crashes FH6.2
Having tried *everything* with Wine I finally had to give up on it - most unlike me but life is too short! I looked instead for other solitions and decided to try Oracle Virtualbox (available for Windows, Mac & Linux). After a few hiccups getting it set up I now have Windows 7 running as a virtual m...

Re: On linux, Drag and Drop media to source crashes FH6.2
Tatewise asked: "So why would electron1948 be running only Wine V1.8 and V3.0.2?" This is because Linux Mint used to distribute with Wine 1.4 and it's a devil to upgrade it. I upgraded from 1.4 to 1.8 following a suggestion somewhere on this forum, and then tried 3.0.2 as it was then the most stable...

Re: On linux, Drag and Drop media to source crashes FH6.2
I too had this problem and the fix above (selecting Tools > Preferences > General > Advanced > Emulator Compatibility Mode ) worked for me on one computer but not another: On my laptop it worked perfectly (Linux Mint 18.2, Wine 1.8, FH6.2.7) On my desktop it made no observable difference (Linux Mint...

Re: FH 6 under Linux & Wine. Basically works but need advice
Mike, I've finally got back to this and made some real progress. You asked: "Have you tried drag & drop or copy & paste to insert the Media file?" I have and FH freezes with a rubbish dialog box displayed :-( "Also that posted dialogue window looks very much like Windows XP style! Maybe that is stan...

Re: FH 6 under Linux & Wine. Basically works but need advice
Mike, thanks for your continued help in this! You said: "I don't understand the subtle differences between your underlined alternatives, and a lack of attachment does not help" I did try to include an image but plainly I got it wrong somehow. I've tried to include it again. This is what I do: Select...

Re: FH 6 under Linux & Wine. Basically works but need advice
I have been experimenting. I select an individual and go to 'add media'. Select 'insert from file' Navigate to the project's Media folder and select a file that already displays correctly . The dialog that now appears (image attached) has the filename area blank, in spite of just selecting one! The ...

Re: FH 6 under Linux & Wine. Basically works but need advice
Mike, thanks for your response to my problem, I looked at the article http://fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:family_historian_v6_on_crossover_wine before I started but it appears to be mainly Mac oriented and didn't help much. It keeps referring to "bottles" and I've not seen bottles referenced ...

FH 6 under Linux & Wine. Basically works but need advice
I run FH V6.22 under Windows 10 and all works correctly but I've finally had enough of Windows and am moving to Linux Mint 17.3. My experience? Been using Windows since V3.1 and FH since V3. I've installed FH under Wine and transferred my FH project. Everything works perfectly until I come to add an...

V6 Bug? Upsets V2 Fact Sets
Just updated to V6 after several years on V2.3. Trying to enter a cause of death I followed the help files and clicked on 'Add Fact'. Doing this nothing happens other than the button blinks - no drop down options or anything else. Am I doing something wrong?
