Re: My Heritage hints not working
Unfortunately I spoke too soon: the same problem suddenly reappeared, so I've created a support ticket.

Re: My Heritage hints not working
Sorry, Peter, I haven't got an answer. All I did was close down the computer last night and restart it this morning. My log file from yesterday shows a whole lot of entries identical to the ones you've quoted, but today - so far - there are no entries at all. Yesterday I was getting the same error o...

Re: My Heritage hints not working
I'm getting the same symptoms as Eric is reporting. I have Internet Data Matches set to open in an external browser, but changing this to the web search window makes no difference. I think the problem started at the same time as I upgraded to v.7.

Map Life Facts
Hi Mike Thanks for all the work you and others put into the plug-ins. I've installed the new version of Map Life Facts , but unfortunately get the following error when trying to run it: Screenshot 2020-12-17 121412.jpg I gather I've run into this because of not having a Google Maps API key recorded ...

Re: Recording a negative
I suppose a simple way of doing this would be to use the standard Census event (for the reason Mike gives), but record the Place as "Nowhere". It might make the property box entry and sentence look a bit odd, but not offensively so, and would be easy to locate instances of this with a query.

Re: Apps for Android
This would be a very welcome app to have - thank you for considering it! I don't think I'd want to risk modifying the GEDCOM file from my phone, but the "notes" option would be fantastic: ability to store text and photos so that they can be easily incorporated into the FH project later on. I use One...

Re: view PDF files
I think I can add a bit of clarification about PDF Exchange Editor in case this helps anyone. The application is indeed genuinely free, but the purchase of a licence unlocks several additional features. The downloaded file is the same in both cases, but during installation you can opt to use the app...

Re: More difficult to read text - Irish Marriage
Thomas Downes was Parish Priest of Kilmallock from 1841 to 1890: see http://www.limerickdioceseheritage.org/Kilmallock/textKilmallock.htm . You might also find some more interesting background material on this page! The handwriting of your entry looks the same as the first three in February, where t...

Re: Better support for non-image Media
Thank you Mike. Yes, that's it. Simple when you know the answer! It seems that for JPEGs (and possibly for other file types on the drop-down list), FH doesn't care whether the Format field is populated or not; but for PDFs it does have to be set correctly. Something to watch out for in future.

Re: Better support for non-image Media
Ah sorry, I must have misremembered about the application icons in v5, at least partially. However, looking now at my media collection in thumbnail view , while most of the PDFs (and the solitary Word file) have their application icons correctly, quite a few do not and are shown as large crossed-out...

Better support for non-image Media
Hi I'd like to add a word of support of a wish list item for enhancing the treatment of non-image media items, especially PDF files. This is something I missed when I moved to FH from FTM eighteen months ago. FTM (since version 2012 I think) displays thumbnails of PDFs and is able to open them in it...
