Thanks, MarkMark1834 wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023 13:02Good suggestion, but the Ancestry Synchronization plugin is designed only for a bare-bones tree exported from FH to RM and uploaded as a new tree. By design, it will not run if it sees additional data such as media links in the RM file.

Re: GEDCOM to Ancestry
Hi Mike, hope you're well.
I've just seen your comment - "When transferring your Project from FH to Ancestry you are correct that Media cannot be transferred".
Is there any way at all to transfer Media to my Ancestry tree, or do I have to enter it one at a time?
Regards,
Ron

Thank you so much for your help.

Re: Saving to DVD Produces Chinese Lettering
Many thanks, Mike. My first error was not to update my profile. I am now using V7.0.15 If I click Preview it still shows Chinese characters. However, if I save a report as you suggested, it displays fine (see attached crop). It is so strange, as when I first burnt the DVD it opened fine, but then op...

Saving to DVD Produces Chinese Lettering
Hi folks, after years of using FH, I finally found out how to save my tree to dvd so I could share it with my family. I burnt the dvd and tried it out. It opened in my browser (Chrome) and the index worked fine. I then took the dvd to my brother, but when he clicked on a name in the index, it came u...

Is there a way to denote a twin on the property box please?
Many thanks,

SOLVED - Scrolling & Anc/Desc/Both/Rels Default for Diagrams - v7
Hi folks, In v6, when viewing 'ancestors and descendants', my mouse-wheel allowed me to go up and down. In v7 it scrolls in and out, which is fine in its way, but is there a way to revert to the up and down please? Also, when I select a record and click on either the Anc/Desc/Both/Rels button, a win...

COMPLETED - Recording an Award/Medal
Hi folks,
I have tried to find an answer regarding this subject (honestly!
) but failed.
Is there a way of entering the details of an award or medal, so that the initials appear after the name, e.g. OBE etc? I am using V6.2.4
Many thanks.
Ron

Deleting Multiple Entries
Hi,
I have discovered an error in my tree which means I have to delete several entries. Is there an easy way to do that please? Do I work on the parents then back in time or the greats and forward?
Many thanks.

Never Ending Ancestor Duplications V6.0
Hi, I've just upgraded to V6 and appear to have a never-ending ancestral line, repeating the same names ad infinitum. Checking in the Records Window shows just 2 repetitions of the same man, but I appear to have him as marrying his mother, which I assume is what is causing the never-ending line. Any...

Re: New PC - New Headache..! Media Lost.
Apologies again, Mike. I've read throught the Knowledge Base again, but am now struggling to find the 2 files we attempted to merge in the first place. I can find one with 6,119 individuals (with photos, but not 6.129 as originally stated) and the latest with 7,840 (the Default, with photos and nume...

Re: New PC - New Headache..! Media Lost.
I remember 5 or 6 tabs, then I clicked Merge on the first tab. A small window came up with progress showing, then when complete, I clicked merge on the other tabs and went through the process again. As I did this I could see the numbers of Individuals increasing.

Re: New PC - New Headache..! Media Lost.
If you open the F:\Ron's Stuff\Family Historian Projects\...Johnson.ged that we used in the Merge, presumably there is no sign of so many [unnamed person] records? That's correct At the bottom left of the Merge Files window there is a row of buttons Match, Unmatch, Retain, Discard. From your recolle...

Re: New PC - New Headache..! Media Lost.
Hi Mike, I have assumed that the 6129 Individuals that we copied from laptop to Win 7 PC, are a subset of the 7043 Individuals in the Gedcom we merged. So I was expecting the merged Johnson Project to end up with about 7043 Individuals, and not the 7,840 Individuals you mentioned on Sun Jan 18, 2015...

Re: New PC - New Headache..! Media Lost.
Yes, I think so, and you're right - those other Gedcoms are from earlier saves, 2013.
On the F Drive, I still have:
Ron's Stuff>Family Historian Projects>Johnson>Johnson.fh_data>johnson.ged
and this is dated 2013.

Re: New PC - New Headache..! Media Lost.
Sorry, but I don't know how I arrived at the inconsistencies, apart from following the guide and trying to save a copy of the file outside of FH before commencing the Merge. The file on the laptop has 6129 individuals. The Gedcom I listed are all different. Yes, I did perform a Merge. Is a Gedcom di...
