Hi Mark and John
Thank you for your replies. Everything is working fine now! A combination of 1) not running CMD as administrator, and 2) a typo!
Cheers

Re: Synchronising settings using 'mklink' command
... just a bit more background: I'm wanting to share these settings between two PCs so I can work on either with up to date customisations, e.g. source templates. Interestingly - if I use the 'mklink' command to create a target/link just for the Source Templates folder in ProgramData and open FH non...

Synchronising settings using 'mklink' command
Hi everyone Is it possible to use the 'mklink' command to target/link the entire Calico Pie\Family Historian folder rather than having to create targets/links for every folder of interest e.g. Calico Pie\Family Historian\Autotext, Calico Pie\Family Historian\Plugins, Calico Pie\Family Historian\Sour...

Re: What software to write a book.
Hi My go to would be Word or Scrivener, but if you're looking for a cheap(er) alternative to ACROBAT then I'd highly recommend PDF-xchange editor (from tracker-software). They use a one of payment method rather than subscription and you can try for free - it probably has most of the functionality of...

Re: Relationship between AS and FH source templates
Hi Nick Again, thanks for your swift reply. I 'think' I'm following your instructions to the letter, but we'll see! :) I've taken you up on your very kind offer and emailed you a zipped folder with the appropriate files, and am very happy for you to identify my mistakes in this thread so that other ...

Re: Relationship between AS and FH source templates
Hi Nick Thanks for your very detailed and timely reply but I don't think AS is going to be a solution for me, which is very sad. I use very specifically designed source templates and they are obviously aren't able to be 'picked up' by AS. For example, following your advise a fictitious example yield...

Relationship between AS and FH source templates
Hi everyone I've created my own source templates in FH to be compliant with the methodology used by the University of Strathclyde (UOS). I absolutely love this feature and it's working well. Currently, when I add a new source in FH using my UOS compliant source template, FH creates a new numbered so...

Hi Mike and Lorna
Again, thank you. This all makes complete sense - particularly your last remark Lorna!
I'm getting there slowly...
Cheers

Re: Missing child facts in property box FACTS tab
Roger, Mike, David, Peter, Thank you ALL for your detailed responses - from each of you I've learnt something new and ultimately solved both of my problems, and of course, I end up with another question... is there some logic behind the 'ADD CHILD' (and for that matter probably also the 'ADD MOTHER/...

Missing child facts in property box FACTS tab
Hi everyone I have a family that's behaving oddly (don't we all)! Mary married John and had two children. John died and subsequently Mary married Lachlan and had three children. The marriages and the children all appear to list correctly in the focus window (for the applicable spouse), the children ...

Re: Source Template Format Definitions
Hi Mike Firstly, tanks for tidying up the potential confusion in my post. Most importantly, thanks for your quick and knowledgeable reply (as usual)! :) Thanks for pointing out the issues around the hyphen and full stop characters, and I'll lodge the support ticket with Calico Pie around the other i...

FH7 source templates
Hi everyone Am I missing something? After creating a 'source template' and importing it to my current project, there seems to be no way to delete it from the project! I can delete the source template itself, but appear not to be able to delete the version that was added to the project, which is prob...

Re: Plugin: Add Source From Template
Hi libertygenealogist! I just stumbled upon your 2016 post asking about the use of italics and the 'add source from template' plugin for FH. There is a way! It's a little convoluted but works a treat! To some extent messes with a bibliography produced by FH that is not 'parsed' through MS Word but o...

Plugins across projects
Hi everyone
Can you tell me if and how I might 'share' plugins across projects? I have a lot of quite complex templates set up in the 'Add source from template' plugin and have only just now realised that those templates aren't (currently) available in other projects...
Thanks!

Dialogue box label error
Hi Nick I've just noticed an anomaly. If you go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > BIRTH SETTINGS - METHOD 1 you will notice that the top line of the dialogue box indicates that it is for the entry box for 'Birth Method 1 Short Title Template'. The word 'short' should be deleted - this is the template for the 'lo...
