Re: Internet Data stopped working

Mike
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately the problem remains. I will see it corrects itself as mysteriously as it appeared.

Re: Internet Data stopped working

Mike
Thanks for the reply. Both computers have the same settings in Tools > Preferences > Internet Data Matches.
I have manually refreshed the sync and I still cannot get the Findmypast records to display.
Any other ideas?

Internet Data stopped working

I have Family Historian on 2 PCs. On my desktop the Internet Data feature works fine. On my laptop it has stopped working fully. There is something being searched as the green circle with the search result numbers appears in the bottom left hand corner of the name box. When I click on this it gives ...

Re: "Getting the Most From Family Historian 5" Book

Thanks for the information. Beats me why Calico should omit instructions from V6 that many people would find useful.

"Getting the Most From Family Historian 5" Book

In Version 5 I had the book "Getting the Most From Family Historian 5" as a pdf option. I now have Version 6 and cannot find it anywhere (either as V5 or V6). I have the "Quick Start Guide" which opens OK so the pdf reader obviously works OK. The Family Historian web site says "You should be able to...

Delete Media Problems

I have installed Version 6 and decided to add place photos to locations. The photos were located in the Media file. I decided I didn't like what I had done and tried to remove them. I have deleted them (the Media file now only contains only the photos I want) but when I click "Media/View All Media" ...

Problems with Individual Record Section

I have installed Family Historian v5 on my desktop and laptop. On the laptop on the Individual Record section under the Main tab I have Name, Sex, Born, Christened, Died, Buried as boxes to enter data in. On my desktop the Christened and Buried boxes are missing. As far as I am aware I have not fidd...

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

Mike
I have just seen your message of 19 March having returned from holiday.
I used the first version you wrote and it did everything I wanted/needed. All I have to do now is tidy my data up and a big (but worthwhile) task it is proving to be.
Thank you for the work you have put in.

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

Mike
I have just run your plug in and it seems to have worked excellently. It is clear I have much to do to clean up my data but I shall just have to nibble away at it.
Many thanks for the work you have put in.

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

I have posted an updated Plugin at plugins:wip:import_from_paf|> Import From PAF . It would be helpful to have a sample PAF GEDCOM that you could post in the KB page above. (I am happy to give instructions once you have KB access approved by Jane.) On looking through earlier postings in this thread...

Thanks. I am afraid I don't know "RCE (Register of Corrected Entries)", it is something I had never come across before.

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

Mike Thanks for summing up what is needed so clearly. I think I am going to have to read up what are the distinctions in FH between Label, Fact, Source, Note and Text. To take a simple example of a christening am I right in assuming that typically the Source would be the Parish registers of XXX, the...

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

Mike Yes the notes are associated with an individual but as one large text document. So that document needs splitting down with individual elements listed as a Fact and the text put in the FH5 note field. So an import of MILITARYSERVICE: ROYAL HOSPITAL CHELSEA PENSIONER REGISTERS OF SOLDIERS WHO SER...

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

Mike I have just reread your reference to Sources. I suspect like many others I have picked endless bits of data up over the years some better "sourced" than others. By way of example in my various Notes sections on Hearth Tax will be included a range of sources with associated facts " CAKE AND COCK...

Re: Migration from PAF to FH5

I think this is exactly the problem I have. Having entered all event specific information In PAF Notes (creating additional categories to meet my needs) I find I cannot export sensibly to other programs. By way of an example, in the case of Avery Dunning I have Notes categories for BIOGRAPHY, BURIAL...
