Re: AgeAt() in Years and Months
You may be correct Paul. What are your input values to the calculation and where is the resulting age to be displayed? Hi, Mike, thanks for answering. This is the way I use input ages and the calculated value [shown in square brackets]. Obviously there would be some benefit for such comparisons if ...

AgeAt() in Years and Months
Apologies if this has been raised before ( I did check KB & Forums).
The 1921 Census prompted me to look at formatting a string with calculated age in years and months. That doesn't seem possible without excruciating pain using a couple of TimeSpan() plus extra calculation. Hope I'm wrong

Re: Relation Pool Number: Caution
Pathological Pools Being drawn back to this, just a few more observations... There are apparently 3 equivalent routes to creating an unrelated individual, all starting out with an "empty" pool number (beginning to learn here). (1) From the Individual Records window (by right-click in the first (exp...

Re: Relation Pool Number: Caution
Well, David, I should have checked before opening my big mouth. Window > Refresh does exactly what is needed, and I never would have believed that.
Many thanks for the suggestion. Kudos!

Never tried, but wouldn't expect so - given that opening a brand-new diagram rooted in any of the participants didn't help.

Not quite sure what you're saying here, but the oddity I mention of failure to update instantly is *very* rare. Probably too rare to make a fuss about - so I won't.

Re: Relation Pool Number: Caution
I believe that is incorrect. If you watch a diagram (that displays pool number), drag down to create a child, its pool number appears instantly.johnmorrisoniom wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022 08:13When you add a connected or unconnected individual, they are not immediately assigned a pool number. That is only assigned when the data is saved.

Relation Pool Number: Caution
I've come to rely heavily on RelationPool() e.g. for heavy-duty splitting trees as well as routine maintenance. Splendid tool. It's also handy for me to show this value in diagram boxes, and that is how I came to notice a curiosity. Working in a Pool 1 diagram, I added an extra spouse to one person ...

Re: Improve Source Citation Pane in FH V7
My recurring complaint, almost since Day 1 (exaggerating a bit), is that the whole structure is a mess. i.e. slavishly using the GEDCOM model as the interface paradigm. Was working on a WLR but decided to save time and put it to you graphically: Window, sub-form, sub-sub-form. I know you will "get" ...

Re: Improvements to Diagrams - seeking top level wishes/requirements
How do I get my thrills (within the limitations of a 15.6 inch diagonal laptop screen)? (Currently V6)... I use diagrams almost exclusively together with a floating individual property box (showing the fact tab with sources to the right).. Mine's twice the size of yours, eyesight's b***d, they did ...

Re: Improvements to Diagrams - seeking top level wishes/requirements
For example in David's point 2b he says “is clicking to bring up the property box an adequate way to see more detail?” Well yes, I think it is. I have developed a text scheme which contains most of the detail I need, and I’m quite happy to look at the Property box if I need anything more. I use the...

Re: Improvements to Diagrams - seeking top level wishes/requirements
I don't have any particular requirements for diagrams that aren't already met... That highlights the (apparent) dichotomy between: (apparently normal) FH users, who use diagrams/charts for their originally intended purpose, and (weirdo) Diagram Man types like me, who abuse them. Perhaps we need to ...

Re: Improvements to Diagrams - seeking top level wishes/requirements
Grateful for this summary. Following it "from afar" at the moment.
I'd suggest this ought to go back into General. It's a debate, not a specific request, or even a mature outline for a range of requests.

Re: Diagram Text Schemes: Family of Variants
My initial thoughts on scope:... Wish I could bookmark a post, instead of just a topic! You've put a lot of effort into listing those areas for attention. They must call for at least a dozen, possibly 20 or more, Wish List Requests. I haven't got time at the moment to give much thought to this part...

Re: Diagram Window: Box Views "Exploded"
Idiotic choice of Subject, that. How about: "Diagram Window: Pop-up, Movable, Non-Modal, Multiple Instance, Read-only, My Custom View of Properties that I'm used to using via my favourite Diagram Custom Text Scheme"? P.S. What's the deal with "Famous" now? I didn't ask for that. In fact "Diamond" fe...

(I would then want to be able, via a right-click, to switch between the individual in the Properties box and the individual in the pop-up - which would mean using something like the "find in diagram functionality" to position the correct individual under the pop-up!) Sorry, must be getting tired. C...

Re: Diagram Window: Box Views "Exploded"
I can see significant benefit in that - particularly for navigating complex trees. You would however want a right click on the pop-up to take you to the Properties box for editing. One particular benefit is that you could select one individual and bring up its Properties box and then hover over ano...

Re: Diagram Window: Box Views "Exploded"
In the current state of FH this could mean having a diagram with one text scheme, but being able to specify a different text scheme for the pop-up - via the Diagram Options dialog? Yes. At the moment it's straightforward (if clumsy via menus & dialog) to add any Individual of interest in the curren...
