Re: FH 6 & FH 7 compatibility
That prompts another question. I use copies of FH on two different computers as well. What if I buy a replacement for one of those computers at some point in the future? Do I then have to buy another copy/licence of FH7, too?

Ha. That did it - copying the cache. Thank you for the hint!

Re: OSM Roads map disappeared?
No, I don't get a map in that range either. Not on the new computer, on the old one it works from 9000 down to 20 kilometers.

Re: OSM Roads map disappeared?
The map I wanted was in Europe (Germany, to be exact), and zoomed in to about half of Germany, so it was in middle range. I sometimes like the OSM map more because it shows some of the larger cities and thus makes orientation a bit easier. Always depends on the region and situation I want to display...

OSM Roads map disappeared?
Hi, as usual, I only come here when I have a problem. Apologies for that. I recently installed FH 6.2.7 on a new computer with Windows 10. On this new computer, I get the OpenStreetMap as usual, but when switching to OSM Roads, I only get a yellowish background (and the pins), not the map. This hold...

Jane,
oh, yes! I should have thought of that. Yes, "quick and dirty" does it pretty well.
Thank you, as always ...

How to get at all sources linked to all individuals from a named list?
Hi All, looks like I come here only when I have a problem ... (not enough time elsewise) I have a list of individuals in a named list (that's basic and not the question). The question is: is there a way to create a list of all the sources linked to all individuals from that named list? So what I am ...

Re: List of surnames and places
Maybe like this, a Fact Query.
I find it a bit clumsy to have all the same place/name combinations many times, but one can then export that table and reduce it - I had some way of doing it via OpenOffice.

Re: Automatic Source Citations do not auto populate
Just a side remark - if Calico Pie had decided indeed not to show Short Titles anywhere, this would have been the end of my using FH. I'm glad they didn't ...

Re: Funny bug in Diagram text schemes?
Mike, I am beginning to understand where to put the = and where not. (Maybe I already knew it in the past, but you establish those schemes and then use them for years without thinking about how they work ...) In any case, the scheme did not yet do what I wanted, because the "b." etc. turned up uncon...

Re: Funny bug in Diagram text schemes?
Mike, you are right - and that was exactly what I tried, and failed just because of the = in the middle. However, before reading your post, I had come to a very similar solution: First line: b. %INDI.BIRT.DATE:COMPACT% Second line: =NotExistsText(%INDI.BIRT.DATE%,"b. ")in %INDI.BIRT.PLAC:TIDY% But i...

Re: Funny bug in Diagram text schemes?
Thank you for your suggestions, yet so far none really does what I want. So I started experimenting with functions, but I don't know where the error is. I am thinking of something like this: =TextIf(Exists(%INDI.CHR.DATE%), =CombineText("c. ", %INDI.CHR.DATE%\nin %INDI.CHR.PLAC:TIDY%),=CombineText("...

Re: Funny bug in Diagram text schemes?
Actually, I have a backslash+n in the scheme: \n I don't remember where I found that - have been using text schemes like this for years -, but it results in a forced line feed. Without the \n, an entry might look like this: b. 2 Apr 1765 in Kleinkleckersdorf, D- 12345 Großkleckersdorf And I wanted i...

Re: Funny bug in Diagram text schemes?
... there does not seem to be a change if I change the place format from tidy to full or short - except that in the short format (PLAC:SHORT), the following happens:
Hier, D-76544 -> HHier (1st of 4)
Hier, D-76544 -> HHier (1st of 4)

Funny bug in Diagram text schemes?
I discovered something funny in the Diagram text schemes. I am using V6.0.4 now. Under certain circumstances, ONE letter of the place name is shown double. This seems to happen when there is no date for the event. It does not seem to depend on how long that place name is or how exactly it is structu...

Re: Map markers
Hi Lorna, thank you! It turns out that I have V 6.0.0 - bought it a few days ago from TWR, on CD. So I'll download the latest available version and see how far I get with that. Thank you for the hint reg. tentative and non-tentative geocodes. Good to know. As to the marker labels: I am aware of the ...

Re: Map markers
Some additions ... I found that I can also type degree values into the Lat/Long field, like 48.63172N, 8.10775E - yet that value is automatically converted to a Lat/Long value that _ignores_ the digits after the dot, ending up in 48°N 8°E. This does not happen if I go via the Latitude&Longitude dial...

Map markers
Hi all, I find the new map functionality highly interesting - it is something I've previously done manually with Google Earth. I have a number of questions, though. 1. As long as no manual editing has been done, the markers land anyhwere, partly because the lat/long info (which seems to get into the...
