Adding Male/Female sex to existing record

Is it possible to add the male/female sex type to an existing person. Having omitted the male/female indicator in error from a couple of my ancestors, it is causing problems in charts as these persons are appearing shaded in the chart boxes. Thank you.

PDF file saving problem

I have started receiving an error message "PDF file output is not enabled" when trying to save reports in PDF format. Saving in PDF file format has not been a problem in the past and the error message has just started today. I am using v7.0.18. Any help appreciated.

Customise FH Pre-set wording

Is it possible to change the pre-set wording for events in FH eg the set wording reading "He experienced 1841 Census on" and replace it with "He is recorded in the 1841 Census on". Thank you.
Richard Whitchurch-Bennett (using V7.0.11).

Deleting Citation Source Text

Since purchasing the original version of FH (back in 2002 I think), I have added a number of Citation/Source Texts. Several of these are no longer needed or used and I wondered if there is any way of deleting them to reduce my Citation/Source Text listing. I couldn't see how to do this in the User G...

Re: Restoring a zip back up file

Mike Firstly my apologies for the delay in getting back to you but I have just got my laptop back from repair at HP. The problem has been caused on several occasions by a very slow backup on exit from the program - it seems that the backup freezes around the 50% mark. I have used the restore program...

Restoring a zip back up file

I am using the latest version 7.0.3 and have recently had problems with a slow backup of my project. On reopening it, I now find that I have lost a lot of the data. I have a fairly recent gedcom file of my project but when I open this and load the project, I cannot save any changes that I make to it...

Mike thank you so much for helping an old duffer out. I'm clearly going to have to play with V7 and get used to the new layouts. I'll read the help items that you suggest.

Re: Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings

Hi Mike I've upgraded successfully with my custom formats carried forward OK. Thanks very much for your kind help with this. One thing that I immediately notice is slightly different and that's on the Project Window "facts" layout. In V6 when I added a citation note (eg for a Birth date, a...

Re: Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings

Thank you so much Mike. I've now downloaded the plug-in and it says installed in FH. Presume I'm safe to backup as normal now and go ahead and upgrade from V6 to V7.

Re: Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings

HI Mike Thanks for your help. I would like to back up my setting for my custom report wording for example %INDI.NAME:ADORNED_FULL% (=LifeDates2()) is the =Relationship(FileRoot(),%INDI%) of =FileRoot() and also the wording and settings that appear in my diagrams for example %INDI.NAME:ADORNED_FULL% ...

Upgrade to Version 7 ~ Preserving settings

I have been using FH since it was first launched, but as an "oldie" unfortunately I am not very technical aware. I now wish to upgrade from V6 to V7 but have what is probably a very basic question. I have personal settings for the wording that appears in my diagrams. Will these be automati...

Listing Individuals by name and dates

I would like to produce a report listing all the people in my FH file showing just their names and dates. I have looked for a standard report for this without success. If it does not exist, how can I produce one. Thank you.

Restoring a zip back up file

I seem to have lost the FH file I am working on but I know there is a zip copy in the back up file. My basic question is how can I restore a zip file. I can't seem to find the answer in the knowledge base unless I am looking in the wrong place. Thank you.

Re: Showing life dates of person in custom report header

Thanks Lorna. I have tried that but it doesn't work in the "Page Layout" header field. I have tried many combinations including =Record()LifeDates2())). Using =Record() does put the person's name in the header, but I have been unable to find a formula that adds the Life Dates after the nam...

Hiding line wording in reports if no data present

I am wondering if it is possible to hide (omit) wording in reports if no data is present in that field. For example in an Individual Summary Report, where it includes the lines "Father" and "Mother", is it possible to omit these lines if no names are known for them. Thanks. Richa...

Re: Exporting to Ancestry

Thanks Mike. My DNA and an old family tree are on Ancestry so I would like to update this. I have had major problems in the past doing so (messages files not recognised by Ancestry, etc) and as aged computer novice, I was wondering if a a step by step guide to be available on the FHUG. Not sure I un...
