Re: Disappearing Home Person and Spouse
I have made a safety copy (two in fact!). I need to reconsider and review my file saving - I have always struggled a little with understanding the file structure for FH. I have backups from many years ago, I'm sure these should now be deleted so that it is easier to see what is left and what is impo...

Re: Disappearing Home Person and Spouse
Thanks Helen, I hadn't picked up on Snapshot Manager - I have picked one dated the 29th Sept which I think was the day before I first noticed the problem. It seems to be correct in all aspects. The screen shot should show that I did only marry my wife once! This seems to be wonderful ... I am hesita...

Re: Disappearing Home Person and Spouse
The problem started with my son being set as the file root and no parents showing. I then added my son's father as myself (from existing record). If I set myself as root (so it is possible) then the display is as shown on the attached screenshot. The existing File Load/Save options have been added t...

Re: Disappearing Home Person and Spouse
Thanks again - answers to your questions in order: We usually view using the focus window showing with the "spouses & children" view (two thirds of the width) and with the individual record window alongside (one third of the width). Good point - I decided to not make any more changes when I sent my ...

Re: Disappearing Home Person and Spouse
Thanks for the reply. Yes I and my wire are still listed - custom id # 1& 2 When tried to list myself as my son's father using "existing record" it gave me a further id number and did not list my ancestors. It also relisted my wife. I have some backups the last seems to be the middle of July - they ...

Disappearing Home Person and Spouse
Hello, I have a long standing family tree of around 18,000 names. A few days ago my details (reference # 1 and the home person) and my wife's details (reference # 2) were missing from the displayed tree. The home person had become our son (reference person # 3). I have attempted to merge with an old...

Condensed Siblings - adjust text size
Hello, Can someone help me please? I have previously discovered how to produce diagrams using the condensed siblings diagram text scheme - 15500|Adding children below their Mother in a diagram What I would like to do is increase the text size in the diagram boxes. I found the following advice in FHU...

Re: Adding children below their Mother in a diagram
Cheers Mike,
I'll give it a go - I seem to recall that I was able to do it in a more straightforward way before and include all more that one highlighted box.
I'll keep trying!
Many thanks......Phil

Re: Adding children below their Mother in a diagram
Thanks Mike, I wasn't clear. It is the later of the two options you mention that I require. That is a single box with the Mother at the top and her children listed below one under the other. The wife is to the right of the husband. It is a way of listing the next generation in one box. Thanks..Phil

Adding children below their Mother in a diagram
Hello, Can someone help please. I have produced diagrams in the past with the children from a marriage listed below their mother. I can't find a file copy of the originals and may have lost them when upgrading to version 6. I've spent most of this morning trying to recreate this with no success. Tha...

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Thanks, the size 0" sounds best!
Regarding the JPEG route - the quality of the reproduction is much better using "Copy Diagram " and "Enhanced Metafile".
I print or arrange for my results to be printed and text in diagrams doesn't travel well with JPEGs.

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Quick follow up...
A bevelled corner with a corner size of .01" works fine.
I also confess that this final message provide me with a thread as my future guide when producing diagrams!
Thanks again...Phil

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Thanks very much Mike, you have been very helpful.
I will try and work in within the parameters.
It's a shame I like simple clean boxes.

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Thanks, that works.
I am back to where I was, I still can't colour the individual boxes though.
I have a choice of white if I tick Text in Lines of Black-and-White or grey if I don't tick the box.
Perhaps it is not possible?

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
This attachment shows the kind of tree that I am trying to create.
One I did earlier and can't replicate.
This tree does not turn grey after copy/paste as a metafile.
Thanks

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Thanks I have now completed a restore installation settings - I did not properly do this. Sorry. However i am no further forward. Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
I reset Installation Settings so I have the grey stripes. This then copy/pastes with the stripes and the boxes all in background grey. If I then right click an individual box and Format change Box Fill, Text Colour, Shadow. So all three have changed. I then Copy/Paste. The Text Colour and Shadow hav...

Re: Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't tick the "Text and Lines in Black-and -White" box. I am not using word, I am using Libre Office. I don't think would be a problem though as I have copied many different file types between Microsoft and Open Office. Everything else works fine. Briefly the process ...

Copy Diagram - Box colour does not show
Hello, I have been using the Copy Diagram facility to copy/paste diagrams to a word type document. The best quality I found is by using copy as Enhanced Metafile. All is good until I try to copy a diagram with different background colours for different boxes. No background colours copy across. Excep...

It is actually easy with the Res Privata file.
It must be easy - I have done it!
Sorry if I have troubled anyone.
