I agree it would be weird - like having a support contract for professional/commercial software when it's just a home software package.

Dagwood said: It's seems a shame that not everyone makes a donation to FHUG or AS. Possibly the answer is to emulate CuriousFox and have viewing only members and Full members. The latter being those who have made a contribution. The full member has the ability to respond to, and ask, questions. Wha...

I agree re Chrome! I only go near IE for compatibility testing or if I get to an MS site which needs it and although I used to love Firefox and mourned the loss of the Google toolbar for a while I now only use it for testing.

I understand the resource problems - just mentioned because as I am moving around the Beta Testing posts it sometimes takes some minutes for the details of a post to appear.

Strange characters in LUA strings
PS: I have only noticed this since 5.0.0.5. I *believe* it was working OK before but cannot guarantee it.

Strange characters in LUA strings
This maybe a LUA bug rather than FH but if I do: fhSetValueAsText(objFILE, 'C:UsersTestPicturesbag.jpg') LUA sets the objFILE value to: C:UsersTestPictures[?]ag.jpg (where ? is a strange character rendered as a black box with a circle in it) This can be seen in the debug variables window and is also...

The FHUG forums seem to be suffering from poor performance. It seems to take ages for the pages to display (compared to other web sites). Does it need a bit of weeding maybe?

How to create local/embedded note?
Ah I see your point - no worries - I am just creating my own private plug-ins to improve the data entry

How to create local/embedded note?
I realise that local multimedia are not recommended but I was assured that they would continue to be supported and they better suite my method and organisational structure for source documents.

How to create _FILE and FORM fields in OBJE record
If I create a new OBJE record from within a plugin I either get duplicate FORM and _FILE fields or blanks. e.g. If I do: local objFILE=fhCreateItem('TITL',objOBJE) fhSetValueAsText(objFILE, 'mytestfile.jpg') ... the record is created with 2 FILEs - one blank and one with the test file in it. I thoug...

How to create local/embedded note?
Can anyone tell me how to create a local/embedded NOTE as part of a plug-in? If I do, for example: local ptrNOTE = fhCreateItem('NOTE', ptrSOUR) fhSetValueAsText(ptrNOTE, 'Some notes in here') The NOTE is create as an empty *link* with no text. The same thing happens if I try to create a local multi...

How to set focus of newly created record?
Thanks again ... I am already using a iup window but really just wanted to exit back to FH (with the new record selected) once the record has been created. I could re-write the plug in to hold all the source info and hence not need the properties window but then I'd just be re-writing the existing F...

How to set focus of newly created record?
Many thanks for the help/links.
Its' rather an awful lot to code up just to point to a record ... is there any chance this could be included in the API since I suspect it would be useful in quite a few situations?

How to set focus of newly created record?
I have just written my first LUA plugin to create a new Source record. Can anyone tell me how I can get FH to focus on the record I have just created? ie to bring up the properties window for the new record?
Many Thanks
