Rather than edit the GEDCOM file, you should be able to move the relevant link as desired using either the All tab or the Records window.
My original reply didn't seem to go thru

That worked a treat, many thanks!

Face Link Issue

Have found a solution The problem is that with v3 I could create my own media link against a fact (in the all tab of the person/family) and then go into the media window and by clicking on the link I'd created on the left then I could draw a frame (or whatever it's called) on the image and it would ...

Face Link Issue

Damn, don't know what went wrong but now it's lost the link

I'm going to give up and use v3 to make the links, it's much easier!

Face Link Issue

Have worked out what's different between v3 and v4, and therefore a workaround In version 3 the linking didn't add the link to the persons multimedia tab (at least the way I could do it in v3), so it never tried to use it as a persons image In v4 when I create a face link it's also appearing/adding ...

Face Link Issue

When I try to use the Edit Media Items window to link the area I have 2 problems 1) It seems I'd need to create seperate source for each child, not a problem in itself but a pain with the number of census sheets I already have setup 2) The linked area is against the source, and it has to be against ...

Face Link Issue

Just to clarify If, say, a census sheet has a married couple and some children I'd create a source linked to the image and use this as a citation for the census on th family and each child etc I'd also link the image directly to the census for the family and each child Then in multimedia window i'd ...

Face Link Issue

Yes, I link each image to a source for adding as a citation to 1 or more facts In v3 I used to additionally manually add a link to the multimedia image against the fact (in the all tab of the person/family properties) and could then go into the multimedia screen and assign a selected area to that li...

Face Link Issue

With previous versions I made constant use of the ability to link an area of an image (mainly lines on Census sheets) to a person/family (I later make use of this as a hot link on my website) But with v4 in the multimedia window it now insists on the area being marked being a 'face link' and when I ...

Nickname etc

I'm either going mad (most likely!) or v4 seems to be missing some fields There used to be a tab on the individual record window that had things like baptism etc, i can see how to add these to the general tab (or a new tab) thru customise but for the life of me I can't find the nickname field (not 1...

For WW1 uniforms you could post your picture on

http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/

Someone there should be able to tell you more about it

Yes, because they are descendents of your great-grandfather. The query needs to select all your ancestors and then all the descendents of everyone already selected (excluding spouses in both cases).

Where do you stop..........

I currently have a flag for direct ancestors, and am thinking of adding a relations one as well

But what would be defined as a relation?

i.e. if my grandads sister gets married and has kids, are these relations please?

I'm a little confused!

Thanks

Where do you stop..........

This question has been bugging me for sometime now...

I've just added, via marriages not bloodline, Alfred Lord Tennyson to my tree

And he is supposedly decended from King Edward III, do I add that? Probably not!

I'm really not sure WHERE to stop though!?!

I've added a number of people to my tree who have titles such as 'Rt Hon', 'Reverand', 'General Sir', 'Sir' and was wondering how people tended to record this in FH please? For now i've put it in front of their name and also added an occupation where appropriate to give more details Is there a bette...

My 2 x gt Grandfather was Thomas Pomfrett Tofts b1837 I've searched the internet and Pomfrett only ever seems to come up as a surname, never a middle name There are no Pomfrett's in my family tree so it's not an attempt to create a double barrelled name It seems to have come from nowhere, and seems ...

Nuremberg War Crimes Trials

Someone informed me that my great uncle was a guard at the Nuremberg Trials

Was wondering if anyone knew if any records were kept of allied guards that would document if this were true please?

Many thanks
