Re: Census Flags
Yes Mike I do mean that I find the Census Icon shown on Diagram Boxes really useful!
Please tell me how to get Census Icons on Diagram Boxes directly from the existence of Census events without any Record Flags!
Thank you

Re: Census Flags
Thanks for the reply Mike, Yes, the custom Queries which I have do list one for each year. Also the objective was to list individuals with a census event for any particular year and then automatically marked on the charts/diagrams page. In Diagrams>Options>Boxes is listed the individual census years...

Census Flags
I am returning to use FH after a long break I have version 7.0.11 and the latest version of Ancestral Sources. I had previously been guided as how to create a custom query to list each of the censuses '1841 UK Census' and so on each with a different flag icon. However, on entering a census recently ...

Re: Diagram 'Options'
Thank you Bob and Lorna for you clear explanations. I have played around with the options in recent weeks and I really thought that I had changed the functioning. However ,I cannot remember the action you describe as being the default action but clearly it must have been. Is it at all possible to st...

Diagram 'Options'
I have been experimenting with the diagram options and, at some stage, have clearly saved a setting which is now causing a behaviour which I need to rectify. In the diagrams window, the pointer tool immediately changes to a small white cross when entering the box and I am then able to draw a dotted ...

Re: 'Attach Record to tree' using Find My Past hints and FH6
From FH focus window
Clicked FMP hint icon to open the Web Search window("Find My Past with Family Historian")
Opened the record transcription and then 'view image'
Then 'Attach to tree'
(I now sense that I've done something a little stupid Mike!)

'Attach Record to tree' using Find My Past hints and FH6
Forgive me for asking this - (it's bound to have been discussed before but I have searched and failed to find solution ) I have just subscribed to Find My Past but have had difficulty in attaching the image of a person's record with the individual in my FH project When I type in the name into the 's...

Re: "conflicted copy" ged in Dropbox
Thanks Mike,
Yes I am talking about Gedcom in a Project in Dropbox.
However I have never had FH open on 2 separate computers.
What I may have done the other day was to inadvertently open FH in 2 windows on my laptop.
Would that have had the same effect and caused the conflict?

"conflicted copy" ged in Dropbox
My familytree.fh_data folder appears to contain 2 gedcom files. One is listed as .....H Family Tree (Stewart-PC's conflicted copy 2015-01-21).ged and is 3445 KB. The other is ..........H Family Tree.ged and is 3487 KB The last several media items have been listed only on the 2nd ged. I presume that ...

Thanks Lorna,
It seems that the early users of FH6 have unwittingly become the 'Gamma' testers!!
Perhaps V6 should have come with some health warnings!

Re: Unexpected Save changes to Family Tree.ged message
Mike ...are you saying that if one media item is re-mapped via the 'External File Links' tool and 'OK' is pressed that every media file is marked as being updated at that precise time? If so, then a large number of users have unwittingly marked each and every media file with exactly the same date as...

Unexpected Save changes to Family Tree.ged message
Lately I have been unexpectedly seeing this message. I opened FH>Tools>External File Links. I made no changes and I closed that window (I pressed 'OK'). I then went to Tools>Plugins>Check for Unlinked Media>Run>List Unlinked Media. I closed the small Plugin window and then closed the larger window. ...

Re: Unlinked media
Thanks for all your help on this problem Mike.
Yes... I will work my way through the listed files and will store them rather than deleting them.
I will be certainly be more cautious in the future when deleting records to which I have added media.
Thanks again
Stewart

Re: Unlinked media
I believe that I may have made a bad move in the past! (one of many! ;) ) I found that I was constructing the same section of tree twice and I definitely would have added media to both. I deleted one of the sections believing that I was permanently deleting all that I had done within that incorrect ...

Re: Unlinked media
Mike, you say that the unlinked files are in my Project's Media folder but not in the File column of the Multimedia Records.
How could I have done this?! I can't work out what I am doing that's so wrong.
(I see that the plug-in has been updated - my results are the same as far as I can tell!)

Re: Unlinked media
Mike, they do seem to point to the media folder.
However when I used the 'External File Links' tool it appears I've only one stray media item.
I will re-map this later

Re: Unlinked media
Thanks Lorna
So what is the plug-in searching for?
I thought that it was media which was unlinked....not that simple?
I'm clearly muddled trying to understand the terms 'media files', 'media records' and 'media folder'

Re: Unlinked media
Mike, all of my listed 'unlinked' media as listed by the plugin begin with C:\Users\ I didn't understand why so many files had been listed by the plug-in as being a problem because I had only a very small number of unlinked media files when I viewed Records window > Media > Links I am sure that your...

I have run the 'Check for Unlinked Media' plug-in and seem to have a number of unlinked media! I am afraid that I don't really understand the term 'unlinked'. All my media is correctly located within the project's media folder. Census photos are always entered via Ancestral Sources and the census im...
