I like the ideas you've suggested. I can't promise an immediate turn around but I'm very happy to make the changes.
Thanks Mike for the offer of assistance, I may need to call on you. I'll see how I go.

Re: Witness role exported to TNG
Just quickly as I'm a bit time-poor at the moment... I've written to Darrin with my two cents worth on the topic as suggested. Thanks both for being so active on this.

Re: Witness role exported to TNG
It sounds like jcliffard and I are trying to achieve much the same thing with witnesses on our TNG pages. See Witness Sentence thread. For my own use, I've modified Mike's Give Witnesses Their Own Facts plugin to use the timeline fact text (the text written in the Fact tab for a witnessed event) and...

Re: Witness sentence
Yes, I've been using the plugin for a while but haven't worried about witnesses up until now. Only using one Witness tag instead of multiple event-specific witness tags simplifies administration of my TNG site. When you upload data to TNG you can either accept all new custom tag types or only take t...

Re: Witness sentence
Thanks Mike, that's very helpful. I think I will be able to get close to what I want by tweaking the Give Witnesses Their Own Facts plugin as you have suggested.

Re: Witness sentence
I was thinking of tinkering with your Give Witnesses Their Own Facts and/or Export Gedcom File plugins if I could work out how :D I have a TNG website. I'd like witnesses to have a single type of fact called "Witness" with the same date, place and sources as the event they witnessed, and u...

Witness sentence
I want to capture witness sentences as output in narratives. The function FactSentence() does what I want but only for principals. TimelineFactText() also comes close as it returns the timeline sentence (used on the facts tab) for witnesses - but not the carefully crafted narrative sentence. I can't...

Re: Plugin: Add Source From Template
Hi libertygenealogist, I'm the author of that plugin. You will be able to use one set of template with all you projects if you redirect where the plugin saves the template information, and copy your existing templates across. Redirect the template save location To redirect the template save location...

Re: Narrative Reports Sentence Templates
Hi Nicola, Yes it is possible. I think the rather convoluted templates below should work. A possible drawback in doing this is losing baptism-only source references in the report. I suspect they wouldn't carry through, but I haven't tested it. For the birth sentence: {individual} was born {date} {pl...

Re: Web search templates
Thanks Mike, I'm up and running. Much appreciated. For the benefit of others trying to do the same... in V6 you can safely add your own templates via the "More" button "Edit" in the "Search the internet" window. There is no need to edit the standard.fhi file manually. T...

Web search templates
Is it possible to create your own web search templates? The web search bookmarks editor includes a template field. If anything is included in that field the bookmark is including among the "Search now" sites. However, I can't find any documentation about writing your own search templates a...

Re: Best way to cope with "objects"?
Thank you for posting your solution. I found this post while thinking about doing much the same thing and your solution post is very helpful. Is this solution still working for you? Have you had to manage more complex situations than a transfer by sale? eg the various trust arrangements that can occ...

Re: Work in progress - Import CSV
Here's another work in progress version of the CSV Import plugin. Major changes from the previous version posted are: Front end that makes it easier to use, including... ... the ability to map columns to fields in the plugin, instead of doing it in the CSV file. Accepts individual age at the time of...

Re: Work in progress - Import CSV
Yes, that's right. There are lots records that list the person and their spouse, or the person and their parents on one line. For example Australian birth and death indexes typically include: Year, surname, given name, father's name, mother's name, place of event, registration number. Scottish index...

Re: Work in progress - Import CSV
Thanks for your reply Mike. I embarked on this after a conversation with someone who found that the Build Tree From CSV File didn't quite meet her needs. I think that plugin, and this one, have different aims in mind. That one is helpful when trying to bring in information from another database that...

Work in progress - Import CSV
I'm hoping some brave soul might test my "Import CSV" plugin. I'm a bit nervous about this. I'm not a programmer, and this is my first plugin for use by anyone but myself. The idea is to edit the column headings of the CSV to a convention that the plugin understands. You can import almost ...

Map Life Facts Chapman/County/State Abbreviations
Re Australian states and territories, the eight codes you found are the usual abbreviations. Be aware that users are just as likely to have Vic, Qld and Tas in their database as all capitals. The other five states and territories would always be in all capitals.

Occupation place
I wondered if it is possible to stop Ancestral Sources from recording a place against each individual's occupation when entering census details? I've had a look at the source templates but I couldn't see how it might be done there. The address recorded on the census is just where the individual happ...
