Backup and Settings - Restore version mismatch
Hi Please excuse any non-technological langauge. My old laptop died but not before I managed to do a FH Backup and Settings using the plugin. I've installed V5 and then V6 and then any updates on the new laptop (to 6.2.7), with help from Calico Support - I'm not confident when it comes to such thing...

Re: Marriage added to report but no source being quoted
Hi As promised, an update and a result! 'Thank you for reporting the issue you raised (custom items added to the Family Member Main Items list in the Family Group Sheet report do not get source citations). This will be addressed in the next update. I have made a note to contact you when it is availa...

Re: Marriage added to report but no source being quoted
Hi Mike
Thank you for your reply and information. I do drop by from time to time but regret I can't add anything to the discussions. The time you obviously give to people on this forum is much admired.
Cheers.

Marriage added to report but no source being quoted
Hi Excuse what is no doubt a simple question but I have had a look around the forum and knowledge base and can't find the answer. In the Famiily Group Sheet report, I have added in the Family Member Main Items, the marriage details for the children, %INDI.FAMC[1]>MARR[1]% having explored the many be...

Re: Reducing the size of the source list in reports
Apologies for my silence. Afraid the 21st Century intervened - most annoying! It was a case of having quite large text for an elderly person to see the information clearly but this also transferred to the sources, that they weren't interested in. I wanted the sources shown for my own sake of complet...

Reducing the size of the source list in reports
Initially, I am concentrating on the Family Group Sheet. Having been rigorous in logging sources, I am finding the list at the end of the report longer than the actual details of the family. I do want to show the sources and have tried to keep them short, showing the minimum detail that is relevant ...

Re: Abbrev in Focus Window
Thanks Mike. A font of knowledge as always.
I'm afraid I don't utilise the full power of what the FH software as to offer, but reading the boards is always an education.
Thanks to all.

Re: Abbrev in Focus Window
Thank you both for that. The text size - never occurred to me. And yet I'm sure it was ok before? I now note that under the Main Tab it abbreviates to Bap: Is there anyway I can get the Focus Window to do the same, or does that cause problems elsewhere? Only trying to save my eyesight a little bit. ...

Abbrev in Focus Window
Just updated to 6.2.3 Now perhaps I'm going senile, but before my update, I'm confident that in the Focus Window, it abbreviated Baptized to 'Bapt'd'. It now shows 'Bapt'c' (See attachment). I've spent a while trying to see where I can correct this, but have given up. Particularly annoying because I...

Re: Transfer/Installation on new computer
Hi Mike The day has dawned brighter, I'm back in a good mood. Fortunately, despite having a new laptop, I'd not cleared all the downloads off the old XP laptop. Found the original install file for FH, so uninstalled FH off the new, applied the old install file and then the current update. Success! B...

Re: Transfer/Installation on new computer
Hi Before anything else, let me thank you for any plug-ins that carry your name. It's what makes FH special. Anyway, suffice to say I'm confused. Easily done and I apologise if I'm not seeing the obvious. My new laptop (Windows 8.1) has Version 5.0.11.1 I'm fairly sure I got this by downloading the ...

Transfer/Installation on new computer
Once upon a time. I’ve migrated FH some time ago from an ageing desktop to a slightly less ageing laptop – no problems. Fast forward to this week and having treated myself to a new shiny laptop (Windows 8.1) I went to the FH website and downloaded the latest version of FH to my new laptop. Went to r...

Family Group Sheet Marriage issue
Hi Sorry but I seem to be having a senior moment and for the life of me can't get the Family Group Sheet to show the different marriage dates of the children. It shows their spouses but despite checking the Options area, I can't find the right Event to add? All I've so far managed to do is add the p...

PAF5 to FH and quarter dates
Hi Jane
A grateful note of thanks for sorting my issues out.
I hope to have a long and rewarding journey with FH. When your family tree gets to certain proportions, having software that can actually provide both quick and accurate insights into your database is invaluable.
Cheers.

PAF5 to FH and quarter dates
Hi Jane Thanks very much for your assistance with my issues. Im afraid trying to run the plugin produced the following error message:

PAF5 to FH and quarter dates
Hi Mike and Jane Thanks both for your input all very interesting, if not a bit scary. Ive seen the light and purchased the software. Whilst its comforting to keep using something youre familiar with, to a database lover like me, after even my basic look around the tools available in FH, it was ...

PAF5 to FH and quarter dates
Hi Mike Thanks for the reply a crumb of hope then! (And yes, FH5 version being evaluated the 30 days is up on Fri. Afraid I got frightened off when I say the initial transfer reveal the problems and didnt discover FHUG and its useful information until recently.) As mentioned, I dont mind takin...

PAF5 to FH and quarter dates
Hi. Ive installed FH to evaluate it before purchase and exported my old data from PAF5.2.18.0 using the PAF export facility clicking export to other GEDCOM 5.5 and it automatically showed char set UTF-8 which knowing nothing about, I accepted. This as thrown up a couple of date problems and I s...
