Re: Date Project Started?

Margaret, I'm not sure how you intend to use that project creation date. You could use the Header Record to record such information. In the Records Window on the Headers tab you will find the Header Record and can open its Property Box. ( If the Headers tab is not shown then use Tools > Preferences...

Re: FMP Hint 'Bubbles'

I'm not sure how those settings on different Projects interact with each other. Do you have the same Individuals in more than one Project? That might confuse FMP. Intuitively, it seems sensible to only enable 'hints' on one Project at a time. This is one of the few 'customisation' settings that app...

Re: FMP Hint 'Bubbles'

What are your Internet > Internet Data Matches settings? Do you only have one copy of the Project on one PC? Thank you Mike, I didn't realise that I had to disable the matches on each project just leaving the one I was working on as 'enabled', hopefully all is working properly now! I should have kn...

Re: FMP Hint 'Bubbles'

When you say you have "cleared" them, can you confirm you have hit the "Yes - Accept" or "No-Reject" button in the FMP page or have you done something else? Yes I have either accepted or rejected them all so there are no new hints. All sorted now thank you, I've disabl...

FMP Hint 'Bubbles'

Why do I still get these 'bubbles' showing the number of hints when I've cleared them and there aren't any new hints to show?

Margaret.

Re: Date Project Started?

Thank you Mark, I just thought that it would be nice to see a 'started' date as well as a 'Last Updated' date.

Date Project Started?

Is there any way of knowing the date that I started a new project rather than when my project was updated.

Thanks

Re: Sentence construction

Thank you everyone, a bit of thinking for me to do. Lorna, the Degree fact is amongst the 'Hidden' fact types, I don't think that I have ever used it before, my earlier generations of ag labs and miners didn't go much on education! {individual} received a degree {value} {date} {place} {age} is the t...

Sentence construction

How can I change the Degree fact to read "He received a degree in economics in 1993 at the University of Hertfordshire"? I've inserted the first 'in' between degree and economics but I can't see how to change the second 'in' to 'at', saying that the degree was received 'in' the University ...

What 'bit' version should I have?

Sorry if this question is completely off the wall, but, I've just noticed that though my laptop is 64 bit when I run Task Manager it shows that my version of FH says '32 bit'. Does this matter and if it does should I do anything about it?

Re: Unlinked Records

You can find all your unlinked people/groups from the Query menu under 'Relatives & Relationships' right at the bottom of the list is 'Search for Orphans', click on that.

Thank you very much Helen, I usually just update without reading the changes, then panic when I notice something different. :) That'll teach me. :(

Icons on Back-up files

I have just noticed that the files that I back up to a stick now have a little filing cabinet icon beside them with the description 'Family Historian Backup' written beside them, until the 20/21 February the icon was a 'file' with a zip running through it and the description 'Compressed (zipped) Fol...

Re: Denote Twin in Property Box

I did a 'Flag' called 'twin' and used an icon with two little people on it which comes up under the box in the diagram. I can't remember now how I did it, but I did ask questions on here about it. Sorry not much help.

Re: Where a Fact has been used

Thank you Lorna and Mike, I used Lorna's Query and it worked beautifully, now I have lots of work to do sorting everything out, that'll teach me to do things the right way around the first time!!! :)

Re: Newly added child will not sort according to birth date

It doesn't really worry me what order children are entered in as about once a week or when I remember I use the 'Re-order out-of-sequence Data' option under the 'Tools' tab, I do check each one before I confirm the re-sort but it only takes a couple of minutes and 'job done' until the next time. :D

Re: Age at birth???

I think that because it said Birth age 99 when no-one else in that family had ages in their birth column that was what made me think (never a good idea when I start thinking  ), however looking at the entries for my grandchildren they too have their ages in the Birth column and I can see now wh...

Re: Age at birth???

Thank you Mike, still a bit puzzled as it doesn't seem to occur anywhere else even when birth dates are close to 100 years ago, I suppose it will disappear when I find out when she died.

Age at birth???

I've just entered a birth for someone in my tree and in the Focus window under the birth column it says Q3 1921 (age 99). Looking at the record window there isn't any mention of me typing in 99, but I don't think that it is me as I altered another date of birth to read Q3 1921 and that also came up ...

Re: Generic Source Types? Census Icons?

Hi Mike, Thank you very much for all your help, I'll do as you suggested. I don't have any problems with my BMD icons, I'm probably doing it all wrong, but they work fine for me.

Many thanks for all your hard work, particularly for a numpty like me.
