Re: Find Duplicate Marriages
I feel that the peremptory "please discuss" is directed at me, so reluctantly some form of reply is in order. The short answer is: I've previously been focused on Birth matches, so suggesting a specific Marriage matches plugin didn't seem -- to me -- to be a controversial notion. When Mike...

Find Duplicate Marriages
Apropos my One-Place Study project, it occurs to me that a Find Duplicate Marriages plugin, similar to Mike's invaluable Find Duplicate Individuals , would be a very useful tool. Basically, all that it would have to do is to highlight two or more marriages of the form "John Smith = Mary ?"...

Re: Ordering Individuals by DOB
Thanks, Mike. It should be possible to simplify matters: everybody in my database has a DOB; if I haven't yet discovered a true date I supply an estimate. So we need look only at%INDI.BIRT.DATE%; perhaps something like: =TextIf( Exists(%INDI.BIRT.DATE%), Text( Text(Year(%INDI.BIRT.DATE%)) . " &...

Ordering Individuals by DOB
Looking at the Individuals window, displayed ordered by Dates , it would be very useful if the records were presented in a consistent order: that is (for each year) births in that year, then that year (approximately), finally that year (estimated). Currently, the order within each year seems to be f...

Re: Search & Replace within a Named List
When I wrote, I was thinking about the native FH F&R, but your S&R plugin would be even better, being much more flexible. Many thanks. When I read in the FH Help that a Named List can hold "a list of records that you wish to edit, grouped together for ease of access", I thought my ...

Search & Replace within a Named List
Is it possible to perform a Search and Replace, constrained to the records in a Named List?
If not, is there a Wish List item for this feature?

Re: Struggling with a complex query
Roger isn't using Lookup Missing Census Facts (though I did try it earlier) simply because the query approach provides a much more focused result set. It's given me a long list of individuals, sorted by descending DoB, where one click shows me all of the facts I currently have on each individual -- ...

Re: Struggling with a complex query
Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction. This seems to do pretty much what I want: Add if =IsTrue(Exists(%INDI.CENS[year=1851]%) or Exists(%INDI.CENS[year=1861]%) or Exists(%INDI.CENS[year=1871]%)) is true Exclude if =Exists(%INDI.CENS[year=1841]%) is true Exclude if %INDI.BIRT.DATE:YEA...

Re: Struggling with a complex query
The relevance of the future census events is that they show that the individual was alive beyond 1841; that's much better than merely wondering, with no proof either way.

Struggling with a complex query
I'm trying to identify Individuals with missing 1841 Census events. The query I think I need is roughly: (DoB < 1841) AND (Exists(1851 Census event) OR Exists(1861 Census event) OR Exists(1871 Census event)) AND NOT (Exists(1841 Census event)) Needless to say, I've failed to get anywhere close. Guid...

Sanity Check plugin?
First off, this isn't (yet) a request for some kind soul to write me another plugin; it's asking for feedback on an idea. (Or, alternatively, for information on how to do this efficiently using existing features.) I've recently had cause to browse though all of the individuals in my current database...

Re: Adding census dates day and month
For reasons explained elsewhere, I don't use the excellent Ancestral Sources for data entry. However I do use it to get my census dates correct. That is, I enter just the year (1841, 1851, etc), then periodically run AS for its Census Date Check and Census Flag Check features. Simple, and very effec...

That's just what I wanted, Mike; thanks very much.
One small tweak would useful: a M/F column (so I can check my Francis/Frances, etc). Otherwise, problem solved.

Given Name summary counts
In order to weed out accidental mis-spellings, I need a way of breaking down Given Names into their individual elements: that is, "Mary Jane Smith" provides one count for "Mary" and one count for "Jane". Thence, "Mary Jne Smith" would contribute one count of t...

Re: Diagram Icons: Flags -> Expressions
Mike: However, using the Place name Missing is a novel technique to indicate missing Census details. I am guessing that you want to only identify as missing, those Census entries when the person is alive. Good guess, but wrong. I have a number of individuals who ought to have census entries for a g...

Diagram Icons: Flags -> Expressions
Currently I have 20 flags of the form 1841 Census and 1841 Missing , controlling the display of appropriately-ordered icons. I'm experimenting with using expressions to achieve the same result, with only partial success. In place of a flag, I though a Census event with the Place given as "Missi...
