Add a GRO Event to an Individual

Version 1.0.3 has now been released to correct my over-enthusiastic pruning of the code in the previous release - only visible if you add a marriage fact [oops]

Add a GRO Event to an Individual

Version 1.0.2 of the Plugin is now in the Plugin WIP area. It deals with the case where the Date field is populated with a year only (eg 1847) - this is now replaced with the Quarter Date.[smile]

Add a GRO Event to an Individual

Hi All Version 1.0.1 of the PlugIn is now in the Plugin WIP area. This new version updates more imprecise dates (e.g. approximate and calculated dates) with the Quarter Date, but leaves Absolute Dates alone. It also appends the Registration Data to the Note Field if the Note Field is already populat...

Running FH from a USB Stick

A lot of my work is done in an environment where it isn't possible to install software on the host computer (i.e. in a public library), but programs which are self-contained on a USB Stick will run (Roots Magic-to-go for instance). It would be nice if FH would run from a USB Stick, then I could use ...

Add a GRO Event to an Individual

I've submitted the PlugIn to FH for approval. Sorry for the delay, domestic duties intervened!
I was going to post it here for testing, but can't see the mechanism :(

OK I'll do that later on today. I'm a newbie when it comes to plugins, so critique would be appreciated:)

Add a GRO Event to an Individual

Hi All I've modified Jane's Add GRO Source plugin (with Jane's permission) to record the GRO 'source' data (Registration District and Reference Information) in the Event Note field, rather than creating a Source for it and recording the District in the Event Place field. This works fine for my own p...

V5 GEDCOM Issue

That is true - compliance is compliance. It shouldn't actually change any numbers unless asked by the user (ie to fit with another number scheme already in use)

Never thought of using the FH3 demo - dohhhh!
Looks like FH needs another number type as a container for Gedcom IDs.

V5 GEDCOM Issue

I'd go with that - although FH does say that the numeric portion of the Record ID is retained as the Record ID. In theory though each record ID should still be different - must be a parsing error that isn't being trapped.
It is also a new problem in FH 5 - FH 4 used to work fine.

V5 GEDCOM Issue

Hmmmmmmm......I created a test project using the GEDCOM as a basis and Family historian couldn't import the GEDCOM, generating an exception report. The error given was that all the record IDs were the same and the imported file showed that FH had assigned the same record ID to all of the records in ...

V5 GEDCOM Issue

Hi All I've created a Roots Magic database with both offending files and they have both worked perfectly with no errors reported, one was imported into a database to see if there was a difference in the mechanism of import against creation (no reason to suspect there would be, but you never know). V5 GEDCOM Issue

In over 30 years of using GEDCOM data from the Family Search site I've not had one that is malformed, much less two. I wish I'd kept a copy of FH4 to compare against :(
I'll paste the GEDCOM into another reply after I've tested it against Roots Magic 5.

V5 GEDCOM Issue

I've downloaded some GEDCOMs from FamilySearch (the old site). On importing them into Version 5 of Family Historian the parents are mis-imported! Instead of having a father and a mother for the child I have a mother and a sibling - both the same female individual. The father's name is discarded. I h...

Project Files

Hi Patrick

I have moved the Project Folder too - to a USB pen. You can tell if you have started the Project - if you have it says Family Historian Project followed by the .GED filename on the Title Bar of the window.

Thanks
