Thank you for replies to my questions.
The step by step info from 'tatewise' worked brilliantly
Changing to the year qualifier for marriage was a slightly different file path to that of birth and death, but all worked fine.
I now have a screen looking much as I had in mind.
Many thanks

Individual records list display
Hi I have a couple of questions relating to the Individual records list display options. I am trying to arrange the columns into a configuration that I personally find the most useful to locate individuals. An ideal layout would be something like Name/id/birth year/place /death year/ place/marriage ...

Custom Text Scheme
I have created a custom text scheme to give me a descendant chart showing the items that are wanted, plus background and box style etc. Everything is how I want it apart from the persons name. Is there a way to show just the name element in each box in a different colour, or bold font? Maybe even in...

Mike
Thank you for being so patient!
I went through all your questions. It was a worthwhile excercise as it became clear to me that all that was needed was to clear the One Drive problem and restore FH project from my most recent backup.
All now back to normal
Thank you

Re: Lost Project
I have now found the project folder hidden deep within One Drive C:\Users\Wigzell\OneDrive\File Sync Ray\FAMILY HISTORY\Archives and Libraries\Family Historian Projects This is a complete mystery as I have no recollection of changing the default location, and to my knowledge have never used One Driv...

Lost Project
Hi Used FH as normal the other day and backed up, all OK. This morning just get a message to say no projects found and same in the projects window, 'no projects' I have located a saved gedcom and opened it in FH and saved it when closing the program, but after re-starting FH I still get 'no projects...

Mervyn
I think you are exactly right. Thank you very much.
I suppose, not enough lateral thinking on my part. Stonemason obviously employed by the Admiralty for work on the naval base or the prison, so the records would be in ADM.
Another bit to add to the family history
Thanks again

Re: Births at sea
Thnak you for the suggestions It would appear that my only hope is the Marine Register as any record made of a birth or death at sea from 1837 onwards was sent directly to the General Register Office and recorded in the Marine Register. Unfortunately there was no obligation to keep records of births...

Hi I have census records 1851 and 1861 that state Willian Frederick Kimber was born "at sea/ Bermuda" 1843 His father was a stonemason and with his wife Elizabeth they sailed to Bermuda. Pesumably William was born at sea. His father died of yellow fever in 1844 and is buried in Bermuda. The wife and...

Hi After a slightly difficult time changing to Win 10, I decided that a complete new install was the best option. I now need to reinstall FH. I have full programs for v3 and v4, plus downloaded upgrades for V4-v5 and v5-v6. with all the Reg. keys. Am I right in thinking (after checking the knowledge...

You were right the double Media folder structure did not exist on the FH V5 desktop PC?
I used your option 2 to sort the missing links

Hi
Best if I just post a link to the External File Links dialogue rather than type it all.

Hi I have downloaded V6 and am trying to install FH on the laptop. The program is running fine but no media images are showing, only the blank boxes with crosses. The NOTE issue is probably not a major problem for me at present, but I will report it and deal with it in a couple of weeks time (after holidays)
Thanks again for the support

Re: Tmg to FH missing sources
Yes, I am using direct import from the TMG project database and FH ver. 5.0.11 The yellow Sources pane in the Property Box is visible which should show the Source Citations Is what you call Notes simply another TMG Tag Type listed in the Tag Type List window? I think the answer to this is also yes, ...

Tmg to FH missing sources
I have noticed that sources attached to Notes in TMG will not transfer to FH correctly? I have several Notes (tags in TMG) attached to individuals and most have a source but even though the note imports to FH the source reference is missing. The source is listed in View/Standard Queries/Source Records

Re: TMG to FH importing
Sorry if the thread appears to alternate between the two methods: direct Import TMG Project database, and the Export/Import GEDCOM File, but the subject line, I think, indicates the overall objective. It appears I am using 5.0.9 but "check for update" says it's the latest version. I have however fou...

Re: TMG to FH importing
Thanks for the suggestions. I have had some success now using the TMG to FH converter and Gedcom import. This seems to resolve the chopped memos issue and the missing notes. Witnesses and Roles is not a problem as I hardly ever used them. I am still checking and testing but I cannot see were the TMG...

TMG to FH importing
Hi I am playing around with the idea of importing my TMG project into Family Historian. I already have a copy of FH ver. 5 and have imported TMG data via gedcom in the past, but am trying to get a better import by using the direct pjc data file. I seem to have two main problems at this stage. 1. Wha...

Reinstalling FH
Hi I have read the Knowledge base and tried to reinstall FH after a Windows reinstall, due to major computer problems. The instructions seem to say install V4, for which I have the CD and Reg code, then install V4-V5 upgrade, which I bought and also have the code. The problem is the downloaded upgra...

Re: Chart Editing
Thanks for the suggestions I have more or less sorted the layout by playing with the 'Notes'. Probably not ideal, but it gives me what I wanted in this particular chart, and as it's a separate tempory gedcom from my main data file it wont matter if the entries are inconsistant. Thank you 'Tatewise' ...

Re: Chart Editing
I have been trying the options, but when text scheme is set to all events and notes (which gives me the details I want in the boxes) the date format does not change from compact. Using a different text scheme does allow the date format to change to Abbrev(3) but dd/mm/yyy is not good. Would much pre...

Chart Editing
Hi
Is it possible to force a line break in an ancestor box chart information.
For instance I am getting breaks within date formats such as '5 Feb' on one line and the year on the next. If it's possible to force a line break before the '5' it would look so much better.
Thanks
Ray
