As usual Many Thanks Mike.
I haven't come across =GetLabelledText() before, or if I had I didn't appreciate what it did.

Query - look for text in Note
As usual I think I am asking for the impossible or something near it. I'm trying to write a query that looks at %INDI.NOTE2[1]% There will always be a line in that note somewhere in it that looks like:- CENSUSES: (c1847-1924) (where the values in brackets are there person's life dates) Don't ask why...

Code: Select all
--Create a Flag tag on the BIRT
--ptrFlag2 is a pointer to the BIRT event
local ptrFlagNew = fhCreateItem("_FLGS", ptrFlag2) -- This creates the tag
local ptrFlagNew2 = fhCreateItem("__PREFERRED", ptrFlagNew) -- This sets the value- 08 Aug 2023 16:53

Thanks for that Mike.
Unfortunately I haven't managed to find the correct syntax for setting the value for the tag.
I'll persevere and see what I can come up with.

Handling Fact Flags in a plugin
I'm writing a plugin to set the 'Preferred' flag on all BIRT events. [This relates to https://groups.io/g/family-historian/message/7112 - Highlight or Colour Facts on the property box] Following Mike's code above I can check if the flag already exists, so skip to next INDI. I can create the tag OK, ...

Hi Mike Problem solved. What she had done was make a copy of the project but instead of putting it within Family Historian Projects, she managed to get in within the original project folder - hence the long path. Scrapped the copy, made a copy of the project in the correct place and everything worke...

Re: Change Any Fact Tag - Error being generated
Hi Mike
Many thanks for that info.
Unfortunately my friend is out at present, but I will get her to shorten the path and see how it goes then.
It would certainly explain why it works on my machine and not hers.

Hi Mike
Many thanks, that works (obviously).
I will need to do the reading as you suggest to work out just what is going on.

Thanks Mike,
That works a treat (why am I not surprised).
I always struggle with LUA/GREP pattern matching for anything beyond the basic.

Re: Malformed addresses
Thanks to DavidF and Mike
Managed to do a good chunk of it without too much effort.
Is there an 'append' option at all?
Ideally I would like to add 'England' on to the end.
If this results in some 'England, England' that's easy to fix.
Thanks again

I have a friend who has entered addresses without comma separators. Hi It's just been pointed out to me that if a person has no birth but does have a baptism, TNG doesn't display this in search results. TNGSearchResults.png TNG will only display the date if it is a CHR. I've spoken to Darrin Lythgoe and apparently it's on his wish list. Not wanting to change my FH d...

Re: FileRoot() in a Plugin
Thanks Mike,
I hadn't picked up that you could use FileRoot() as a function in its own right. The examples all tend to show as part of another function.
As usual your example worked a treat.
Cheers
