Auto source title for death / burial of married woman

I have ticked the option "Use last name for married female" for autotext, and this gives the correct autotext for deaths and burials of married women. However, this option also changes the title of the source and the title of the added image. I would prefer if the source title kept to the usual gene...

John - if you don't like the look of the ribbons, you can configure them to look like normal connecting line.

Two households on same census page

Treat them as two separate inputs.  When you use AS to enter the second family (the servant, in your example), you have the option to link the entry to an existing image (which you will have linked when you added the first family).

Flags

Hi David, This is a quotation from the help system: 'Support for shared record flags (between GEDCOM files or projects) has been added. New record flags are shared by default. To make an existing record flag shared, select the flag in the Work with Lists and Flags dialog box, and click on the new Fl...

From V4 there's no need to edit flags.fha as you can mark flags to be available for all new projects you create.

Although each of the individuals only have one record, I suspect that you have two family records.  You'll need to either merge these or delete one.

I would check that both FH and GEDCOM Census are really working on the same file. I imagine that your file won't be stored in the exact same folder as on your old computer.

Emailing large diagrams

Don't give up on the PDF option.  It is possible to fit even huge diagrams onto a single page PDF.  See the How To section:

Indexing Married Cousins

Yes. you can.

First select the record of one of the cousins.  On their property box click on add spouse.  It then asks whether you want to link an existing person, the answer of which is yes in your case.  Then choose the second cousin.

Thanks for that idea, Jane. However, I think the solution for me will be to just do my GEDCOM Census work on my desktop.

Slow save of netries over network

Nick, I've bought a new laptop (Vista). I've networked it to my desktop PC where I'm storing my family history data. If I run GEDCOM Census from the laptop, it takes 5 minutes to save one census entry. The speed of opening the GEDCOM file is 1 or 2 seconds (my file is about 1.4 Mb). Family Historian...

That's a great use of a list, Jane. I'd never thought about using lists for sources.

Thanks!

Date Format - U.S. Customary

I think the issue for goodwin2 is that if he inputs dates into the dialog box as 'Sep 21 1891', FH does does not recognize the date as being equivalent to '21 Sep 1891'. Of course, the US norm would be to add the date as 'Sep 21 1891'. They would also expect to see 'Sep 21 1891' in the dialog box. W...
