Re: Add GRO Source plugin

Well said Mike. At least I can see that some contributors actually understand where the complexity of some threads just put off the basic users. I also appreciate that you are all now talking about the issue I raised and I thank you for that.

Re: Add GRO Source plugin

The GRO Source plugin in the store is only up to FH V6 and is 4 years since updated so is no good for V7.

Re: Add GRO Source plugin

I did post a long response but it is not showing in this thread and has dissappeared into the ether. In essence possibly the majority of FH users are non programmers or experienced computer engineers so need a basic method and source of information. An attachment from the forum does not download int...

Making the Plugins Discussion Forum more useful

ADDED BY MODERATOR: This topic was split off from 16641|Add GRO Source plugin which illustrates the problem discussed here. I cannot find any of these Add GRO Source plugins within the plugin store other than a 2019 FH V6 version. The plugin store has always been the source to get plugins, not a for...

All empty facts query

Is there any guidance available as to how to use the 'All empty facts' query. When I run it I get an error message 'This query contains one or more disabled column or row filters. Continue anyway' If I continue it produces nil results for 'Facts and events' group. I know that I have many facts which...

Easy updating of Citation Date

For many years I used the current date for all my 'Citation specific details' date. A few years ago I discovered that this should be the date of the source document. As some sources have over 20 citation entries there are large numbers of dates to laboriously update. I thought that the plugin ADD AS...

Re: This week's active discussion topics in the FHUG Forums email

I have been receiving two postings, 5 minutes apart, for several months. Today is the first time that it has been only one posting. Looks like whatever was the problem has gone away for now.

Re: Entering un-related people in census?

Back many years ago I seem to recall that the recommended method, by a senior forum member, was to record everyone in the census in case they became relevant at a later date. I have always done that even though it increases the pool numbers for unrelated persons. Once it has become very useful as a ...

Re: Parents display issue

Lorna Thank you, spot on with your response. I am in the process of tidying up over 30 years worth of records and this one came up by accident. Having now looked at the Families list for 'parents unknown' I found them at the bottom of the alphabetical listing and I have 4 such families dating back 6...

Parents display issue

I have found a strange issue on one person only, Hannah MORGAN, which I have been unable to solve. When I display the parents the two children are shown correctly. When I then display one of the children, Hannah MORGAN, the parents are not showing. However a little arrow has appeared next to the par...

Re: FH7 general observation

Mike you are correct. I have used this method since drag and drop was introduced. It was only an observation, not a complaint, that FH7 works differently in producing a concatenated line and not the layout FH6 produced.

Re: FH7 general observation

FHv6 drag and drop kept the text in the same tabular appearance as the original. As you can see from my screen dump FH7 strips out all the carriage returns and blank lines.
Both screen dumps show that the selection area is the same, from 'First' etc.

FH7 general observation

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this anomaly as I haven’t seen a posting. When looking at hints from FMP within FH window I always used to drag and drop into the Citation Notes box and it all stayed in the same format. Now in FHv7 it concatenates it all into one long unreadable line. However...

File History Backup

This post is just to let users know not to rely on, or possibly not use, File History to get back any old or lost file. FH has very good methods of backing up your projects. If you are like me then I use extra backup methods. In the past I thought the inbuilt File History in the recent Windows versi...

Re: FH 6.2.7 Randomly closing

I reported this to Calico Pie with the error event details and this was their response. Thank you for reporting this. We believe that the plugins problem is a separate, unrelated problem. We believe that the crash you experienced was probably related to your use of the internal web browser, although...

Re: FH 6.2.7 Randomly closing

I would not have posted here unless I knew I was looking at the correct FH.EXE event error log. The shutdown was preceded by two other observations. 1. Plugins would not load within FH 2. FMP Websearch window took between 5-10seconds to close down each time after clicking on the cross. These were ob...

FH has just shutdown without warning. Event log shows the error details that caused it. It has three screens showing details in different ways. How should I present this information and who should I send it to?

Re: FH 6.2.7 Randomly closing

I can confirm that I have also experienced FH suddenly shutting down. I am on the latest version and all updates are done automatically. This has happened after MS Edge was updated recently. There is no error message, it just shuts down. I also get, as Mike can confirm, that over the years I have ha...

Well done Jane, excellent as always. One extra step in the process, after clicking on 'profile' it takes you to View Profile, you need to click on 'edit profile' to get to the appropriate screen for the Weekly Bulletin option. Thanks again.

Re: AS Error message

I renamed the existing Log files and AS created a new one ok. However for an entry update, as distinct to a new entry. AS needs to change/delete Backup files which again it could not do as access was denied. I believe that it is a folder/file permissions problem but I do not know what they should be...

AS Error message

The first time I have used AS since moving across to a new Windows 10 PC I received an error message when AS tries to open its log file. The date shows that this file was last used with Windows 8.1 PC. Not sure what to do to resolve the issue. Screen capture attached.
