Re: Updating TNG to the latest family tree data in FH

Hello Mike,

Thank you for that, I did look at both and thought of reasons why each may be the right forum but still was not sure I made the right decision so thank you for putting me in the right location.

All the best,
Martyn

Updating TNG to the latest family tree data in FH

I hope this is the right place to put this if not please let me know. My master database is FH but I am starting to use TNG Genealogist as the basis of a web site to get other members of my family interested and to be able to share information with them. I used Mike's excellent GEDCOM plugin and my ...

Re: Interview with Simon Orde at Rootstech London

I was very happy to see the FH version 7 that is in development at Rootstech London. It looks to have some very good enhancements which I look forward to. I was also relieved as it had been a while since the last major release. I am coming up to retirement in just over 3 years and I was concerned th...

Re: Any one coming to Rootstech?

Hello, I will be there all 3 days, catching the train after work tonight. I will certainly be visiting the stand. On the subject of the cost I don't know if that referred to getting and staying there or enterance. If it was enterance there have been, and still are, deep discounts available and this ...

FH on ChromeBook in Crossover

This is a follow up to 16243|Second Copy of Software that mentioned FH on Chromebook . I recently bought myself a Chromebook, partly out of technical curiosity - sad but true :-) - and partly because I thought it may be a good option for my Dad. I have installed Crossover for Chrome OS and FH on it ...

Re: FH5.0.9 running under Crossover on Mavericks

Thanks to all the people that worked on getting FH / AS working under Crossover on the MAC. I "went over to the dark side" last week and got a Macbook Air as I wanted something light with a good battery life for travelling and following the instructions in the Wiki it was a very quick and ...

Any news on the iPad/Android app from Telgen?

Hi Neil, Sorry if it's been posted elsewhere but apparently it is now released: GedFamilies has been released - see http://www.telgen.co.uk/gedfamilies Malcolm Green Is anybody using it? If so how are they getting on? I would intend to use it on my Transformer tablet (ICS) and Google Nexus 4 phone (...

Version 5 release by TWR computing

I've ordered mine from TWR, I've gone for the full version this time as re-installing after upgrading through each version since 2 last time I had to rebuild my PC and re-install was a bit of a faf so I thought I'd 'splash out' this time on the full version. Lookig forward to getting it, what do the...

A question for ';Pocket Genealogist'; user

Yes that was my initial thought. I suppose it depends on how much information I gather,I'm not expecting a huge amount but you live in hope! If it's only a few items I may keep manually enter them in FH when I get back, if I get a lot of information I may take a backup of my ged file and try a merge...

A question for ';Pocket Genealogist'; user

I have just bought a copy of Pocket Genealogist and I know there are at least a couple of users here so I thought I'd ask your advice. The information goes across from FH well but do you just use it as a one way sync? When I go on my trip I had intended to basically take notes of any changes or addi...

Brother/Sister Husband/Wife

A Census can easily lead you astray the first one I found showed my GGgrandfather William living with his Uncle and Aunt; John & Mary who were shown as husband & wife. This was in my family tree for quite a while before I found 2 other censuses that showed them as brother and sister. I am su...

It was discussed on the mailing list and Simon has acknowledged it as a bug and I believe that a fix will be either made available as a patch or as part of an update. I don't have any connection, other than as a customer with Calico Pie, so the last part is just my perception from what was said rath...

Yes, I have used the upgrade and it ran very well. I have only spent a little while using V3 but I have been very impressed it has lived up to my hopes. A big advance on an already very good product, well done to Simon and thanks Jane for all your hard work with the FHUG.

Apart from being a customer I have no link with TWR so I have no brief to talk on this subject but I think I can explain what happened. Apparently the card companies changed the rules for online purchases so that the 3 digit security code now has to be entered as part of any transaction. TWR expecte...

Although it is my first time using TWR I am impressed so far they sent an e-mail when there was a delay to keep me informed and I have heard nothing but good reports about them from other users. I'll let you know for sure in the next few days when hopefully the new version will be shipped. To be fai...
