Re: Address images
Thanks, Jane. Just thought it would be nice to have that link. I'll explore the other oes.

Is it possible to link a picture to an address? As an example, if someone is married at St Mary, Ashbury, |put in the place Ashbury, Berkshire and under the address St Mary, Ashbury (repeat of place bane because there are a lot of Dt Marys). Now it would be nice if my photographs of the church were ...

I've cracked it. When you make s file available offline on the tablet it is automatically encrypted unless you switch it off.
Now I've found and done that it works fine.

No, the FH setting isn't helping.
Does Dropbox work OK?

I'm new to tablets etc. Just trying Google Drive. Put gedcom on from PC. Looked at it on tablet. Only way to open is to make it offline first. Then use EZged viewer to open, but it won't. The original copied across opens fine. I've checked both files in notepad. The Google Drive one is gobbledygook....

Excellent. Got it. I now understand better what that bit is doing. I found the iup info rather confusing.

Interface buttons
Great, Mike, thanks. Your second version does just what I want.
Is there a variable generated for the actual number of buttons, so that I could use ,say, that variable over 2 rather than specifying the number 4? Not crucial but it would be nice.

I think I've got the principle of embedding boxes, but I'm working from your Interface Button snippet. I don't understand where intArgNum comes from. So I can't work out how to split the button arguments into groups. i.e. with six button names sent to iupButtons I want to split them into two (or thr...

Thanks, Jane. I'll explore that. I'm just trying to make quite a lot of buttons more manageable.

I've been using the Interface buttons snippet and can adapt it a bit to suit so that buttons show either vertically or horizontally. But how do I get a block of buttons e.g. 3 across and 3 down?

What is the Purpose of Plugins?
Yes, I'm getting to enjoy writing plug-ins specific to my needs. And renew my earlier knowledge of coding.
The one thing I dind I have to keep an eye on is whether the plugin is really necessary, or would a query more or less do the job.

Thanks Jane, that's the explanation I needed. I'd been looking at your 'related media' code, but got bogged down in the numerous pointers and your use of 'fhGetValueAs Link' which didn't seem to do the same for me. Still I'm sure I'll sort it out now. I've just managed tob output a simple table that...

Here's another one.
Is it possible to make the output a link to the record? At the moment it is a bit of a pain finding the name and then having to go to the record separately.

I did try that and it got me nowhere because I couldn't find anything that fitted into the FH approach.
Anyway, see other thread fopr full details and it's available to anyone who is inteersted.

Yes, thanks Jane. I'm getting there, but it's a fairly steep learning curve from when I played around with VB years ago. The main problem was with strings that had accidental spaces at the beginning. I only found them by checking string length against the output where it wasn't obvious. I finally ha...

I understand that now. I'll give them a try although I thought I'd already tried at least one of those.
Thanks again.

strName = fhGetItemText(pi,'INDI.CENS[year=1911].SOUR[1]>OBJE[1]>TITL') works fine. So does strCens='INDI.CENS[year=1911].SOUR[1]>OBJE[1]>TITL' strName = fhGetItemText(pi,strCens) But strCens=''INDI.CENS[year=1911].SOUR[1]>OBJE[1]>TITL'' strName = fhGetItemText(pi,strCens) does not. Hence nor does s...

Listing files in census folder
Cracked it now, thanks. I was a bit brief. What I wanted was a list of files in my census folders, that is the downloads that I have, to match them against the people with that census in the project while within FH. I know I have a number that have not been entered and it's a pain chasing them. The ...

Listing files in census folder
For various purposes I want to be able to list all the files I have in e.g.
folder 'D:........Census Images1911'
I've managed to produce a script that runs using 'lfs', but I can't get an output.
It seems to be a fairly short script needed. Has anyone got a suggestion please?
