Surname Cloud
I would like to create a Surname Cloud from data in a Project within Family Historian 6, because I think it would be a most useful graphic to place on my web site. Does anyone know how to create it, please? I assume what I need to do is to create is a list of the surnames within a particular project...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
continued - sorry I pressed the wrong button! My hands aren't as good as they used to be... Yes, Lorna is right, I have customized my Charts and I first did that some years ago. I dislike those little coloured boxes, so I cancelled them and also set up my own text scheme with particular fonts & ...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
Thank you all very much for your advice. Re: Paultt's contribution on the subject of V7 bugs, I did purchase it and installed it on one of my laptops (HP1). Several problems arose with citations etc and I might have been able to deal with those, in time. However, when I saw that my own sister had be...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
Dear Lorna & Mike, It is very kind of you to help me with this problem. I have been through my various laptops & back-up drives. First, I must explain. When I change a laptop or put in a new HDD, I never throw away the old hard drive, I keep them just in case of trouble. I have two laptops, ...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
I have just sorted my current project data into Record ID order. To my astonishment, there isn't a single gap in the sequence of 29090 Individual Records. I must have Merged/Compared Records hundreds of times in the past couple of months alone, and goodness knows how many thousands of times over the...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
Oh, yes, I did open the old Saved Chart in the old project. To get to it, I had to utilize the HDD that was originally installed in an old laptop. I fitted the old drive into an external housing, opened Windows Explorer and navigated to the GEDCOM Project file in the old drive. That opened in the co...

Re: Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
Well, you have given me a lot to think about there, Mike. Firstly, I used to hold my HEARSEY data in a another FH Project, but when I discovered that this particular branch of the family was connected by marriage into my WOOLGAR ONS, I split out the HEARSEY data from its original project & merge...

Re: Moving box within diagram
Thank you Mike, that makes perfect sense now that you have explained it. Thanks also to Lorna. I did try hiding boxes & moving them backwards or forwards at the time, but it didn't solve my problem, probably because I was concentrating on the proxy box at the time. Thanks for reminding me about ...

Apparent corruption of Saved Charts
I am currently using Family Historian version 6.2.7 & operating system Windows 10 build 19042. On 17 Jan 2015, I created a Chart for Mary Ann Hopestill HERSEE and it hasn't been changed since that date. Yesterday, I wanted to reproduce a print of that Chart in connection with a new piece of rese...

Re: Moving box within diagram
Thank you for your advice Lorna. Fortunately, I prepared this Chart to trace the Woolgar male line for the purpose of being able to compare Y-DNA results and that is why I stopped-off all ancestors on the female line. In this particular case, I also didn't need to show the 2nd marriage of Charlotte ...

Re: Moving box within diagram
Many thanks, Mike. After struggling with the problem for several hours, I thought that I might be aiming for the impossible. Chapter 10 of the Manual continually stresses how everything is possible because the trees are "Smart" & that Boxes jump to get out of the way when the Movement ...

I have looked through the various articles re moving Boxes & Bars within diagrams, but I can't find the information to solve my particular problem. I am running Family Historian version 6.2.7 within Windows 10. I have prepared an All Ancestors Chart & then stopped-off lines that I do not wan...

Re: Changing Fact Type from an Event to an Attribute
My thanks to you all for your contributions which are very much appreciated. I am very puzzled by the idea that two place names are permitted in an Attribute for voluntary emigration, but are not permitted for internal or external migration that is legally enforced, such as transportation, removal o...

Changing Fact Type from an Event to an Attribute
I made a mistake when I set up a Fact Type called Poor Law - Removal Order because I created it as an Event and I should have created it as an Attribute. Data has been entered in this Fact Type and I don't want to have to do it all again, so I want to make a change. I have set up a new Fact Type wit...

Re: Adoption entries
My thanks to Mike and Adrian for their very helpful comments. I quite take the point that women change their surname on marriage and that means that their offspring are in the father's surname. that is expected and looks normal on a Chart. Therefore, if the adopted child is female, then their subseq...

I have three cases of adoption and in each case the event occurred post-1926. In all these cases, the adoption took place within the close family of the child concerned.
