Re: Sources v6 migrated to v7

Denise, I’m a little concerned that in one of your earlier posts you said “it would appear that 'Freebmd' now contains the same text from source for absolutely every one where that source has been used.” Have you now been able to find the text associated with each citation , which should be differen...

Re: FH 7.0.9

Lorna, there is somewhere to right-click even when Prefer full row selection is enabled. Right-click the [+] or icon at the left-hand end of any row and the usual New Source, Columns & Options list is available. Thanks, I hadn't spotted that. Another pretty quick way is to click on the Source Icon ...

Re: FH 7.0.9

This just goes to show how many different requirements Calico Pie have to satisfy. I've had to turn off this new feature! I work with generic sources only, and my quick way of creating a new generic source is (as it always was) to right-click in a blank space in the Sources tab of the Records Window...

Re: All Source / Media documents

I know this is not quite what you want, because it deals with only one person at a time, but in case it is of interest are you aware of the options in the menu on the cog wheel icon of the media tab in the Individual Property box? The second option is to View Media Linked to.. (the individual). You ...

The LifeDate() function in a single column will give YearBorn-YearDied - which may suit?
David, the LifeDate() column is already in the Records window by default.

To add to this, there was another Elizabeth born to the same parents in 1799 but again, I can find no Death Certificate for the first Elizabeth. Would I be correct in assuming that Marrion was stillborn and that is the reason there is no Death Certificate and is it possible that Elizabeth also died...

Re: Chart display problem

Mike, I'm fairly sure Colin already knows all that. In my reply I said he needed to tick Remember Options at the bottom left of the Boxes tab. His response suggests that this solved the problem. If he had only right-clicked and chosen the Format option he would not have been looking at the Boxes tab...

Re: Chart display problem

The shadow is created by having a dark grey box behind, and slightly offset from, the main box. That's why when the box condition is set to No Fill you see the entire shadow showing through. As you have found, the box needs to be set to be filled with your chosen colour. When you changed that option...

Re: Hourglass Diagram

You need to concentrate on moving boxes further apart, rather than moving bars. Moving the bars alone just moves them up and down without lengthening them. You need to space out the left hand side so that the boxes align with their counterparts on the right. This will mean leaving some gaps in some ...

Re: Change one specific instance of a sentence in a narrative report

Ah, that's interesting. I always thought it was dependent on the absence of a marriage fact. (Probably because if there is no marriage fact I never have any family fact at all!)

Re: Change one specific instance of a sentence in a narrative report

Helen, wouldn't custom family event still leave the original problem? FH would still generate the default "relationship" sentence, in the absence of a marriage event. At the very least there would need to be a marriage event with no date or place and an empty note, with a sentence template of {note}...

Re: Old handwriting

I agree with Gowermick. The groom's surname looks like Calvert. The second letter is an 'a'. The handwriting distinguishes clearly between the letter 'a' and the letter 'o'. The last letter of the surname is 't' and the penultimate letter is 'r', because it matches the two 'r's in 'Arrowsmith'.

Re: Change one specific instance of a sentence in a narrative report

It's clear from this discussion that there are various approaches to the problem, some more convoluted than others. However I think we can assume that Peter (a) doesn't want to hide the identity of the father and (b) is certain of the identity of the father. He has the names of the father's parents ...

Re: Change one specific instance of a sentence in a narrative report

Adrian, The OP's case is slightly different in that the father is not an 'unknown'. He is known and has been entered in FH. The problem is not that the sentence mentioning him needs to be supressed completely but that the OP wants it to say something other than "had a relationship" . So instead of "...

For private individuals the license permits the use of FH on two devices provided they are both owned by the same user and they are not used simultaneously. So your wife would need to pay for a separate license, there is no discount.

Re: Ancestral Sources - small change request?

I find that the list in the window you have shown is sorted alphabetically. In fact it is only the second half of the list in your screenshot which is out of sequence, which is odd. Could these be folders which you created from within AS, using the 'New Folder' option? However, to get the window wit...

However, I've never fully understood why the Place name Property Box, Place: box also needs the [...] button. No other records need that button to edit their Title/Name field. I suspect it is something to do with Place records being linked by name instead of Rec Id. i.e. FH needs to know when you h...

I'm at my PC now so I have just tested this. In the window where you select the folder, if you click on a column heading to change the order of the display (for example, sorting by Date Modified) AS remembers that order next time. So if you click on the first column heading to sort by Name so that t...

Paul, I have moved this topic to the Ancestral Sources forum. Although AS can be launched from a plugin it is not a plugin itself, so the topic doesn't belong in the plugins forum. If you click on the column heading to sort the Media folders alphabetically does AS remember that order next time? (I'm...

Re: dies after 1911 cant find not on 1939 Census

Yes, but the results screen only includes results which meet the criteria you enter in the search fields. So if you specify the 'town' of birth when you search, you know that all the results you see will be people born in that town. I realise, of course, that transcription errors or mistakes in the ...

Re: dies after 1911 cant find not on 1939 Census

Current FMP Search results don’t give a clue to where person was born, just where they lived. That's not true. Admittedly the FMP results include a column for only the county of birth but you can enter more details in the search fields to narrow things down. I start by entering just the county and ...

Re: Marriage lines

I assume that on the Diagram Options > General tab you have 'Use Fork Style for Lines Connecting Ancestors' ticked. (Contrary to what Mike has said, I think this is the default). If you untick this the ancestral spouses, like the descendants' spouses, will also be connected by double lines.
