Re: Too many spouses shown.
Double clicking on the 2nd spouse removed the 1st spouse from view and when I closed and restarted the program only the 2nd spouse view was shown. So this is what I was hoping to achieve, problem solved. As Mike explained, the default setting in V7 is for the Focus window to open on the last person...

Re: Too many spouses shown.
Whenever you are displayed as the focus person in the Focus window both of your spouses will also be displayed. However there are a couple of ways you could avoid seeing that screen when FH starts up. FH opens with the focus on the file root, which is presumably you. So you could change the file roo...

Re: Media - Link or Insert
You need to be clear about the difference between a Media File and a Media Record . The Media File is usually an image file, such as a JPG or TIF file. If this file is held within the Media folder of your FH project it will be included in a full backup. If it is held outside the project it will not ...

Re: Query name
To change the name of the Query as it appears in the list, and at the top of the Query screen, you need to save it again with a new name. Use the cog-wheel menu and Save as Custom Query then enter the new name and click Save. The old version with the previous name can then be deleted using the same ...

Re: Sources and Proof Arguments
I changed the label to Title for both Property Box and Records Window and it works like a dream! I think the reason I decided to leave the label as 'Custom Id' was to remind myself that this is not actually a standard Title field like the ones in a Source record or a Media record. (If I forgot I mi...

Re: Sources and Proof Arguments
In the absence of a Title filed for Note Records I add a custom ID to each Note record. I have this field displayed on the Main tab of the Property Box, and enter a title there. In the Records window, Notes tab, I have added a column to show the Custom ID and moved it to second place. (I use the col...

Re: Narrative Report Sentence Structure
Try replacing {note} with {inline-note}. This is for use when you want the note to be inserted into the middle of the sentence template, rather than appended as an extra complete sentence. Unfortunately the online FH Help file only mentions the {note} code, but if you use Help >Search Help within FH...

Re: FH7 indication of relationship for "non-direct" ancestors
To find the relationship(s) between two people, select them both in the Records window and then use Tools > How Related. You can choose the maximum number of relationships, up to 9, (as they may be related in more than one way). Make sure that the box for 'Blood Relationships Only' is NOT ticked. A ...

Re: Modifying the generic source ‘template’
I don’t feel it is necessary to type the words ‘District’ and ‘Book/Page’ in full. I just enter, for example, Warminster vol 5a p 223. It is clear that the first word is the name of the district, and it only takes a second to type ‘vol’ and ‘p’. However, the important point is that the ’Where within...

Re: Property box panel size not remembered
Oddly, if you have the 'Sources For' pane displayed at the bottom of the Property box, the position of the horizontal bar above the 'Sources For pane' is remembered. So the two dividing bars behave differently. The inconsistency suggests a bug. Sarah, yes raise a ticket on the page you gave a link to.

While I think about it, how does the sorting option play with dated facts.... My memory might be failing me, but I can't recall if a fact with a date post birth can be created in the e.g. Pre-birth timeframe? Yes it can be created. You just get the usual kind of warning come up , "Possible Error. D...

Re: Adding marriage details to a child in a family group sheet report
There are blue dots alongside the birth, baptism and death dates in the 'facts' section, but a red dot for the marriage - does this indicate which events are detailed? Blue dots indicate Individual facts, red dots are Family facts. As the discussion in the other topic showed, the children's marriag...

To remove an item, select it in the right-hand list and click the X below. delete item.JPG I think it's a mistake in the Help files where it refers to the left pointing arrow. Hello Philip, welcome to FHUG. You have posted this question in the Diagrams and Charts sub-forum, so you may be trying to add the husband by using the drag-and-drop technique in a diagram. Unfortunately this is one of the rare cases when a new individual can't be added using that technique, for the...

When you created the custom fact types did you give them both a Normal Time Frame of Post-Death?
