bug - lost attribute
Thanks for your response. I fixed my file without much difficulty, thanks to the new feature of copy and paste for events/attributes. As a computer programmer, I've caused my share of undesirable side effects, so I don't find them especially disturbing.

bug - lost attribute
I have a custom attribute Privacy, which I add for people I know or assume to be still living, so that I can easily filter them out when I convert to HTML pages for public display. I had not converted my FH file in several months, just recently discovered that the Privacy attribute was gone. I ass...

customizable separator for place names
Purely personal preference to arrange place parts from most to least significant; sensible sort order, and easier to read both for a quick glance in data entry and presentation in the tabular format I use. The separation character doesn't matter technically, more an aesthetic decision.

customizable separator for place names
I enter my place names as e.g. 'PA : Lancaster Co : Lancaster'. For various reasons I prefer to keep this format, despite the place name improvements that have been made to FH since I began. The Place List tool is useful with just a sorted list, but it would be more useful if it knew to separate t...

Prop. Dialog/Main/Spouse/Died in?
I also considered this odd when I first started using FH. For aesthetic reasons as much as anything; it's an asymmetry in a dialog that is otherwise logically organized. Since the main tab otherwise consists of basic info, I expect to see birth/death/marriage info for the family at a glance. In p...

sort order of multiple columns
This was requested by someone else, and described very nicely by Simon Orde on the user listserv, but I don't see it on the wish list yet and want to vote enthusiastically for it. Now that the records view is configurable (thank you!!!), it would be very helpful to have more control over its sort o...

2.2 Release - comments please
In the records view, it is now possible to have columns with checkboxes to indicate inclusion in lists. This makes me very happy, but alas I am already seeking enhancements. A query can include or exclude individuals who are in a particular list, but I want to display all individuals along with th...

trouble with two monitors
I have a second monitor attached to my computer. Often I maximize the FH window on the second monitor, and move the Properties dialog to the first monitor so it doesn't obscure the records or diagram. Today I did this with version 2.2, then exited and started FH awhile later. Although the splash ...

2.2 Release - comments please
I've spent only a few hours with FH 2.2, but my immediate response is that it is heading in exactly the direction that I had hoped for. I had known that the ability to configure records columns was on the wish list, and I am happy to see this implemented so soon; the additional ability to add tags ...

bug - spontaneous exit (navigating w/ diagram?)
I'm perfectly happy to answer questions if I can provide useful information. I'm not sure that I can add much, but here is as much detail as I can manage just now. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP 1, w/ 512 MB memory. When I start FH, FH.exe memory usage is about 6250 K, GDI objects 235. When I load m...

bug - spontaneous exit (navigating w/ diagram?)
This problem occurs regularly, so I opened Task Manager to see whether it would track anything useful. I ran some experiments: 1 Start FH, open GED file. Note memory usage and GDI objects. 2 Select individual, click Descendant Diagram button. 3 Click X to close Diagram. Note memory usage and GDI ...

Version 2.1.8: Sources section in Properties dialog. Display an individual. If the individual already has a spouse, click on the blank tab to prepare for a new spouse. Click Name of individual. Click Add Citation button. Select any source. Click OK. Enter text for Where Within Source. Click Spouse N...

bug - spontaneous exit (navigating w/ diagram?)
Version 2.1.8: This was the first occurrence of the problem: Clicked Events tab (in the Properties dialog). Clicked Add Event button. -> Add Event dialog did not appear. Closed the Diagram. Clicked Add Event button again. -> Add Event dialog appeared but with some of its controls missing. Continued ...
