Re: Copying records from one gedcom file to another Gedcom file
Thanks Mike, I'll try again with your updated information. The reason I have two projects (and realise now I shouldn't have gone down that path) is that I recently got back in touch with a relative of mine (1st cousin once removed). I had already done my side of the family tree and thought I would h...

Re: Copying records from one gedcom file to another Gedcom file
I see. But I don't understand why it does not update the notes from a record. It does not even update the fact they have a middle name. Obviously doing something wrong.

Re: Copying records from one gedcom file to another Gedcom file
Thanks for the update, in the dialogue box it does say Null Merge From file record is a subset of the Merge Into record. But the record I am trying to import has much more information, but when I close the dialogue box and check the record the extra information (additional children + extra notes) ha...

Re: Copying records from one gedcom file to another Gedcom file
I'm sorry about that but it hasn't worked. Let me explain what I did. I exported some records from Gedcom "A" into a new Gedcom file just containing those records e.g Gedcom "C". I then opened Gedcom "B" and imported Gedcom "C" to merge. In the merge file dialogue box under the Action on the left ha...

Moving groups of people
I have children that I have attached to what I thought was their Mother and Father but with new information I now know they were descended from a different sibling. Is there a quick way to move the children and their descendents from what I thought were their parents to the correct parents.

Expanding a record
I'm creating a new chart and have a number of relatives on after starting with an "all relatives" diagram. There is one relative I would like to expand and show his mother and father but there is no expansion button showing. Any ideas please?

Saving a Family Historian Chart
I started working on a chart in Family Historian V5 that I had originally created in V3. When I opened it the pictures I had originally inserted into the diagram in V3 as part of the chart did not appear to be there so I went about inserting them again and added some more pictures. When I came to sa...

Opening an FH chart
I am using Family Historian V5. I have just opened a GED file I created on V3 and tried to open a FHC file that was created around this time. When I go to "View" then "saved charts" it comes up with the following message " This feature is only available within the contents of a Family Historian Proj...

Re: Creating a PDF file
I have uninstalled the PDF printer. When I go to search for updates it says FH V5.0.9 is already installed. Do I have to go to the FHUG website to get the update or will it just say you are already installed.
